Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-0 Woking

Gus not starting I would imagine being something to do with playing for England Tuesday and the knee problem he is carrying.

Some people do have short memories the players are by and large running on empty. No pre season, no proper training facilities, training tailored to avoid possible injuries while training, the list is almost endless.

Yes yesterday wasn't great granted and while most of those players will still be with us next season, some will not play as regularly as this. The management team know exactly what is needed and those needs will be addressed in time for next season.

There is an old saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" and it isn't just the playing side that needs attention. Patience please, even if it takes another couple of years to get back to the EFL.

The MOM was their bald centre back Cuthbert. Demi put in an excellent shift as did Collin (apart from small mistake). The rest were just not at the races. I suspect that’s the last we see of Wes and Wood.
Not so sure about that.
It isn't that either deserve to be in the team; it's the number of games to be played in quick succession.
Demi won't play in all three in the next six days, I imagine.
But wasn't Taylor originally a midfielder? Maybe him there allowing Miley and Husin to push forward that bit more?

This was the reason, Kev said. The knee is fine at the moment.

Woody came on and charged around significantly, desperately trying to retain the press and get forward, Again as a striker ( whish I dont think he is ) and anyhow like Waldron was hardly supplied with opportunity

Before some send him packing shouldn't the young 20 year old get more of a chance to play in his favoured position behind the front 2 ? Has it happened yet? wasn't this from where he was scoring for fun on loan?

Personal view I thought he did ok and has got something to be developed

Olly Coker came on and tends to be liked I think for his style of passing , a bit Kev like , mostly sideways and back, but he does also have a good shot on him when getting forward but as Clarkey commented tried to side pass it into the net todayI , will also keep an eye out for improvement here as well.
Hope we develop both of them but we shall see next term

The game was terrible no one can deny that.I think the players are physically and mentally drained after a very tough season and a run of games in short period of time.its all about next season now. With a proper pre season and some additions I think we can be hopeful of a successful campaign

Kev seems to acknowledge (and not for the first time) that hes just waiting for a midfielder to take the game by the scruff of the neck and pass it around.

Maybe these dour performances are a blessing in disguise, kev and crew will realise that none of their midfield players are actually good enough...

Woeful. Not even one shot on target. Made a dreadful Woking side look almost mildly average.
Can't understand anybody applauding that shower each and every week. I get the sentiment, but we can't be accepting that as a standard moving forwards.

Yeah, I keep forgetting Ralph's low first-half hit, lol!

Salt in the wounds time.
Scroll forward to 2:41 and see Mooney hit the type of cracker we all waited for in vain...it's what's between the ears for some players, eh?

Yes, how true. Whatever the sensible realists say, the ones who complain the most about the team (and I include some 'high up' members of SZ staff here) won't let up with their ' I pay my money so am entitled to rant' rhetoric. They conveniently forget we have had the most extraordinary season in the club's history but hey ho, as long as they can be miserable!!

I won’t judge them on that single performance, they look like a knackered squad who have been pushed to their limits through a busy season, and recent hectic schedule, and can’t wait for this season to end.
Roll on next season, there will undoubtedly be additions and departures, and I can’t wait for next season when we can operate as a proper club again and compete on a level playing field.

Zzzzzzzzzz.

I was dreaming of last week and thinking I preferred driving 10 hours to Hartlepool. At least we tried to win that game in the second half and had some drive to get the three points. Yesterday we played the last 30 minutes with one striker, I would rather have lost the game trying to win it. We are not going up or down so nothing to lose, but a little bit to gain by making ground on teams above and feel good factor. At least Tuesday we are playing a team with something to play for so should not get the stagnant feel of yesterday and to a lesser extent last week’s mid table opponents UTB
