Memory Lane Southend United v Birmingham City 1957--a wonderful photo-- (were you or your dad at this game?)

Harry was, I think, a former submariner who suffered deafness. Was it as a result of that service? I 'm sure his daughter, Helen, taught PE at Sweyne School, Rayleigh.

There were some of his relatives who went to Fitz. I payed football one called Paul Threadgold

Good question. In cases of colour clash normally the away side changes. I can't remember the reason why we changed colour.
In those days, when there was a colour clash, the rule was that BOTH teams had to change. Birmingham played in red?,as I recall.

About 35 years ago Harry Threadgold helped carry me off the pitch at Bournes Green after I had rolled my ankle over tearing tendons etc.

I was playing for Collegians at the time. Don't know what Harry was doing there. I guess he lived in the area at the time?
