Fantastic news about the striker, I think we need at least 1 more player in that role. Especially with Murphy and not knowing when he will be fully fit. Cardwell seems to be having his issues with injuries too.

Adding more numbers up top makes sense.

I disagree and think that is terrible news that we’re in the market for a striker. That tells us Cardwell’s injury and Murphy’s recovery is much worse than the club hoped for. Remember the official line when Cardwell was signed was either that Murphy was week to week or not injured? We sign Cardwell and all of a sudden it turns into a season ending injury for Murphy and now he’s not even fit to start the season.

Meanwhile we are still advertising for medical staff. Ben Clarkson handed in his notice in about September 2020 and nearly two years on we still have vacancies and haven’t been able to offer players continuity of treatment/diagnosis.

You may well be right, but it may also be a type of striker rather than numbers. For example someone who bags a few goals, has loads of pace wouldn’t be a replacement for Cardwell.

We need someone in the squad to replace Matt Dennis, maybe the striker we're allegedly looking at is to replace him, we've lost Matt Rush as well who for part of the season at least was in and around the squad.

And Sim Akinola left too. We definitely have room for a pacey fox in the box, and I don’t think at all that our looking is due to concerns over the fitness of current strikers.

What is there to clear up? We have plenty of ITK posters telling us 3 players have signed it’s all done. The announcement has as assumed by others been held back due to the non playing staff not being paid.

This has been discussed elsewhere. And let’s be honest SZ is 9 times out of 10 the first to break information. What do you think Chris is going to tell us that hasn’t already been said.

Chris is at Wimbledon at the moment fully focused on the lad from Great Wakering. Not sure he has time at present to report on Southend. However, if he did im certain he would

Yeah he announced he's leaving them. He's one we watched (I know that because I was coincidentally at the same match, Farsley vs. Boston, that Collymore went to watch him at). Good chance he wants to stay northern-based though as his name seems to be getting mentioned alongside a lot of northern clubs - Gateshead, Notts Co, Chesterfield, etc.
