Nope I don't think he should be in ..great for the short period he was here but not a legend IMO

Agree he was great for the short period of time we had him but I don't think he is up there with the likes of Powell and Tilson. Still put him in.

Wasnt his greatest acheivement in football keeping Southend up, becuase of what it meant to the fans?

'I wouldn't swap that day at Southend (ie Luton game) for winning the FA Cup or the Championship. Really. There was a purity and an undiluted joy about that day at Roots Hall that really got to me...
That was why I played football in the first place, to see that kind of joy on people's faces... What price can you put on a day that left me feeling that the middle of May is still my favourite time of year because it reminds me of that day at Roots Hall.'

Over sentimentalised, gushy, second rate prose written by a hack journalist ghost writer.

Yet one of the best and most moving things I've ever read about a football club - because it's about OUR club. I actually believe Stan feels this way and genuinely cares about Southend United. For a man who went on to play for two former European champion clubs and to be capped by England yet still remembers the day he helped kept us in the old 2nd Division as a highlight of his career just sums it up for me. A Southend United legend in my eyes, without a doubt.

STAN Collymore is wishing the Shrimpers all the best for tonight’s eagerly-anticipated clash with Chelsea.
The former striker, who went on to play for Liverpool and England, recalls his own spell at Roots Hall with great fondness.
And he hopes the current Southend United side have what it takes to cause an upset against their Premier League visitors.
“I would like to wish all the lads good luck,” said Collymore, who now works as a radio presenter on TalkSport.
“They need to make sure they give it their all and remember anything could happen.”
Collymore scored 18 goals in 33 games for Blues during the 1992/93 season and often played alongside Seasiders chief Steve Tilson.
He still tracks South-end’s progress and is refusing to accept that a Chelsea victory is a foregone conclusion.
“I think if Southend work as hard as they did in the last game then they have a chance,” Collymore added.
