As I've told you before, I don't do hypotheticals.

I would, however, be prepared to countenance some British military action (preferably under a UN banner) to take on IS.

Last time I checked the RAF is British and military and taking some action.
And the RN has warships out there too assisting coalition partners.
If you mean ground troops then I suspect that there may already be some special forces doing some wide reaching "training and co=ordination" with the Kurds and other (anti Assad and ISIS) groups.

The first piece of newsprint on the EU pros and cons came through the letterbox last week when the Pro EU group delivered their first East of England newspaper. As you would expect it was heavily biased in favour of remaining in the Union and the impact to East Anglia if we withdraw. I now wait expectantly for the first edition from the Anti EU group(s). I have yet to decide the best way to get information, probably for me, the printed word is best, but no doubt TV and the Web will play a part as well. I will probably give Facebook and Twitter a swerve on the subject. I might also follow websites like ORB to see what the latest polls are saying. Roll on Dave getting his proposals agreed or otherwise so we can get this business done and dusted.

As someone said earlier, Nicola Sturgeon made a lot of sense on the timing of a Referendum on Andrew Marr's program this morning. I don't share many of her political views, but I do find her a persuasive speaker.

Haven't had anything through the post yet, mostly nonsense that pops up on facebook from both sides.

TTIP and its impact on the NHS is something I would like to see more info on but alas nothing so far.

You may, or may not have delved into ORB. This is their latest offering for the Independent.

The big problem for me with sites like ORB is staying focused. I look for something specific and keep finding other interesting bits as well, so it takes ages to get in and out!!

There seems to be an emerging consensus in the media that the referendum date will be in September, which given that there's almost certain to be another refugee crisis next summer, would probably add a couple of % points to the out campaign-if they can get their act together.

If the EU hasn't sorted itself and the refugee crisis out by then, it begs the question what is it there for?

Alternatively, when the crisis and migration/benefits, social norms ( in each individual member state) are being affected by the people movement routes it might givesome leverage to Cammy for an acceptable deal and changes for the in campaign?

I certainly did mean ground troops.

FWIW,I personally have no objection to air strikes on IS infrastructure eg oil installations etc but draw the line at carpet bombing of cities where IS forces are embedded, which will inevitably lead to civilian casualties.

I think those of you who are in favour of the allied bombing of Syria need to explain why Canada pulled out back in October.

Unfortunately I don't think anything that Cameron comes back with will satisfy the hard-liners in the out campaign.

Being fair,

The left soon peeled away from this thread, fair play to you and Tangled for persevering but to no avail !

I think a high number of people would disagree with your view probably 70% or thereabouts, but your take will never convince myself of taking in refugees into the country,I suspect the majority feel the same way.

Thank you.

I'd suggest you (and others) feel the way you do because you're bigots.

On the subject of bigotry you might want to have a look at this exceelent article.

Bigots and racists !

Easy to use those words when somebody is losing their debate, loony Labour crushed anyone who dared speak out over their immigration policy with shouts of "racist and bigot".

Thankfully times have changed somewhat affording people to debate, sadly though some still try and use that pathetic tactic.

And I think I'm right in saying that everyone else on this board regardless of their leanings would be against the whole sale carpet bombing of whole areas but that's not what's happening nor is it ever going to happen. You bang on about other people using inflammatory terms and phrases, I suggest you take a good long hard look at a few of your posts you hypocrite.

I suggest you read the link. As of 1977 it is to be considered a war crime

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpet_bombing

If you can post articles or imagery proving that carpet bombing by allied forces has taken place in Syria or that anyone on here that doesn't agree with you is in favor, because that's what your implying, then please do so. Otherwise, retract that inflammatory term from your post and apologize for using it in the context you did.

I know you specialise in political own goals and here's another one from the top draw.

You said you would arm Syrian Rebels to overthrow Assad, who has the support of the Russian air force. Which would of course mean if we escalated the situation they would with doubt target whole towns and cities. At the moment they do have the eyes of the West looking on. If we armed them then even you must be able to see that Putin and Assad would take the gloves off and start slaughtering on a grand scale.

Its the sort of idea I would expect from the worst kind of right wing bigoted racist. But then again as you so kindly pointed out with your 'Horseshoe effect' Your blind political left wing bigoted stance makes you no better than the people you hate.

May I add ,

Maybe Tangled is actually racist and bigoted toward white people?
