Was my Altrincham ticket in there?
Despite my email confirming purchase stating “Away tickets - Please be advised that collections will be available from the Southend United Ticket Office (please see the below for home matchday collections) until the Thursday before a Saturday fixture, Monday for a Tuesday night match, or until the fixture goes off sale, whichever is sooner. After this time they will automatically be sent to the away club for collection on the day of the match.” (My emphasis)
You may be shocked to hear that they weren’t actually sent to Altrincham for collection on the day of the match.
Fortunately Altrincham staff couldn’t have been more helpful (particularly when they were having to turn home season ticket holders away) and when it became clear no tickets from SUFC were going to arrive took my email receipt as proof of purchase. I understand that they were several others in the same situation as me. Hopefully they all got in in good time to see the first goal.
There are some very helpful individuals in the ticket office but it is such a lottery as to whether your tickets turn up in time - be it season cards, away tickets being sent by post, away tickets being collected at a home match, away tickets being collected at the opposition’s ground. The saddest thing is I fully expected there to be issues but working full-time and outside of Southend I didn’t really have much choice after the Maidenhead game (when I had intended to collect my ticket) was called off.
