Typical Pink Toothbrush Songs

Corrected. I've been in there twice I think, and both times all I've wanted to do is set light to the place with everyone inside. Full of rejects and weirdo's.
Spot on Chadded. Full of geeks who no doubt got bullied at school. went once and couldn't believe how many people in there made no effort to go out (adidas t-shirts, body odour, no attempt at hair styling, clothes were dirty and someone actually had a rip in their t-shirt (not intentional) etc) - embarrasingly i knew a bar maid there, hope she didn't remember that i was in there.

the place stunk, and the birds were as rough as ukranians.

although in fairness they played "on a ragga tip" for some reason, my only good memory of the night

But then I used to go to the more mainstream clubs (which, showing my age basically meant Tots) and used to feel just as uncomfortable in there. Everyone in there wore a 'uniform' with far less variety than you ever see in the Brush in my opinion and the music was awful to my tastes.

I'd still go fairly regularly because that's where mates would have birthday bashes and if you were with friends you'd have a laugh. However my passion has always been for music and so I'd much rather go to the Brush and Club Art on Tuesday nights as that's where the music I loved would be played. When it was my birthday, that's where we'd go.

All down to personal preference really.

I used to enjoy going to both the mainstream clubs and the Brush. To me the Brush was great due to the fact that you didn't have to dress up and could go there on a whim if you wanted. Many times we would be having a drink in the pub and then someone would say let's go and have a few cans of Breaker (I think it was) in the Brush. I never actually understood the logic behind other clubs with their dress code. It didn't seem to matter how shabby your trousers, shirt or shoes were as long as you weren't wearing jeans however new and expensive and trainers (even if you just bought them).

Anyway getting back on to the music...........

The only living boy in New Cross and I always remember trying to get the DJ to play anything by 808 state.

Great call! I'd forgotten how good that was!!

Yeah me too till I YouTubed it...

Some more obvious ones would be

Temple of Love
Stuck in the Middle With You
She Sells Sanctuary
The Passenger
Lust for Life

Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with butterfly wings

Its not a place I've visited, but from what I've heard, the likes of the Happy Mondays & Inspiral Carpets must feature heavily!

Did I miss much?!!

Sweetness and Light - Lush
Cannonball - The Breeders.
Glider - My Bloody Valentine.
Pray - My Jealous God.
Pearl - Chapterhouse.
Big - New fast Automatic Daffodils.
Sway - Ocean Colour Scene.

I have only been to a Lucy road club once (TOTS in 1989) and it was like a catalogue shoot for Mr Byrite. Everyone seemed to be dressed like Nick 'Wicksy' Berry.

Downstairs at Saks was more my cup of tea.

not from the Brush, but current top indie clubbing tunes:

Crystal Castles - Courtship Dating
Rival Schools - Used for Glue
Hell is for heros - I can climb mountains
Yeah Yeah Yeah - Y Control
Dizzee Rascal - Fix Up Look Sharp
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Weapon of Choice

Going by the name, I would expect the Pink Toothbrush to play non stop Jimmy Summerville, The Communards and, er, the Martina Navratilova marching dyke band or something.

Kind Regards
