What are you having for lunch? (rolling thread)

Couple of years ago i was walking past Belle Wharf one afternoon, when a fishing boat was unloading many baskets full of them.
The ones they've had this week, are smaller than usual & 'speckly' & so tasty.
No idea if true or not, but was told these ones are harvested in the English Channel between Dover & Hastings?.
The best whelks used to come from Pegwell Bay Kent , my cousin and I used to pick sacks of them out .

A still warm pork pie ( freshly baked couple hrs earlier ) & fantastic sausage roll, from Botham the Bakers, in Skinner St, Whitby.

Cured (pink) or Melton Mowbray style?

In Yorkshire they eat hot cured pork pies, mushy peas and mint sauce as a snack in pubs.

I've been going to Botham's for 40 years, when in Whitby. The ones they bake daily, have more of a spicey tang about them, & when i buy them still warm. The gelatine hasn't set, still a little runny, & def Melton Mowbray style.
They serve them in a flat box, as otherwise if in a bag, the 'still to set' gelatine would ooze out of them!.
I've had freshly baked warm pork pies in Skipton, Richmond & a couple of other places in Yorkshire, but none of them are on par with Bothams in Whitby ( family business since late 1800's ).
I brought 4 pork pies, 5 sausage rolls ( on par with the pies ), & a coconut fairy cake, as was going to visit good friends, for £11.50p!.

How long are you up there .

Thought of you today, as there's a famous old shack that sells smoked kippers ( Fortunes, it's been on TV ), & you can view them being smoked above a mass of oak chippings, in an old well tarred shed.
You can smell them from 100yds away, a lovely aroma. I brought 2 pairs for next couple of days breakfasts.
If Teresa has lost her sense of smell, let me know & i'll bring you some back!.
