1-0 win or 4-0 win?
1-0...Phil.C
1-0 win or 4-0 win?
Two games stand out , the Villa game 1971 , the Chelsea cup game 1972 , you had to be in The North Bank for those games to understand why people of a certain age still talk about the great days in The North Bank .
I have a spare ticket for today, and he cannot wait to come back to the game, and there is talk of getting a season ticket next season too. If we win today, he could well be converted from a Chelsea fan, to a fully pledged Shrimper.
(I have a second greatest day; taking my son to RH for the first time in October 1991 to see Charlton. The game was drawn and when did he want to go for a pee ? Yep - when SU scored )
Birmingham was awesome, I am sure my mate Streaky said he only just got in to that game before the stewards said no more and shut the turnstiles to the north bank.
There was an Anglo Italian game at RH, Padova, 5-2 I think it was, great game and oddly the north bank was reasonably empty, I climbed the barriers swinging my scarf for the goals - loved it!
Lots of great memories including Man U and Tilly promotions, but I still remember being a 13 year old at that Birmingham game, and that atmosphere will stay with me for a long time.

For me it was the 1956 cup game against Manchester City. I witnessed the most amazing goalkeeping performance by Bert Trautmann The memory of one save from a Roy Hollis shot is still fresh in my memory some 60 years later.
Mine too, even though I was only 10 years old. Remember saying to my dad "Why are we playing in Wolves colours?" not understanding in the FA Cup that both teams wear change strips if there's a colour clash.
Bert Trautmann broke our hearts (and Roy Hollis) that afternoon ... amazing saves.
Well, never knew that. When did that stop?
I'm slightly concerned that this thread has been overtaken by the bad memories thread.
Quick, someone wax lyrical about the liquid football in that second half v Yeovil in our title season!

Can't answer that one I'm afraid.
When I mentioned Blues were playing in Wolves colours, I was referring to their shirts and socks, I remember they were playing in their normal white shorts that day. Man City were wearing maroon shirts with a pale blue pin stripe, white shorts and maroon and pale blue hoops socks.
For those who think today's Roots Hall pitch is bad, you should have seen it that day. Water, sand and cockle shells ... and that was an improvement on what it looked like two days earlier!
