Did anyone watch this last night?

Mildly entertaining but it really annoyed me that the parts set in Southend were actually shot elsewhere (Jaywick - Clacton).

Also, if you are going to shoot scenes set in Southend but filmed elsewhere it is probably a good idea not to feature any piers.

Yeah I saw it (and I have a copy on DVd).
Agree with your point entirely Cyril. The novel on which the film is based-scripted by the author whose name I forget-does a marginally more authentic job of describing the Southend seafront/Pier locations etc

I saw it and thought exactly the same, completely ridiculous to not use Southend for the 'Southend' scenes.

All in all it was poorly written and lacked conviction. Kept me quiet for an hour and a half though.

...or indeed why they didn't change the script to make him from Clacton instead. It was hardly crucial that he was from Westcliff.

There I was wondering where on earth it could be round Southend. Should have realised it was Jaywick.

Just to bump this. Watched this last night - what a waste of some great acting talent! Not bad, certainly nothing special and the ending couldn't be more obvious if they'd rigged up a huge neon sign.

And the whole Southend thing certainly was very bizarre.
