My message is as follows....

Message: We come to watch you play week in and week out, we support you, we encourage you, and we get right behind you, hoping, and praying for a vital win in the closing stages of the season. With 5 games left to go in this current season, its vital that we start to rack up the points, and gain vital, precious wins. We need to stop making such stupid defensive errors, as a team, we should know better than that! We need to utilize Johnny's spectacular throw-in ability, and get someone on the end of it, to shoot or set someone up for a shot. We need to deliver set pieces to the best of our abilities. We need to start taking our chances more, and looking for players who are in the best position to score. As a team, you CAN play better than you have been playing in past weeks, and deep down, I know that if we work as a team, we can avoid relegation back to League 2. It's not over yet, don't give up now, not this late in the season. Every one of us fans believe in you. We believe that you are good enough to avoid relegation, and we will be continuing to support you throughout the whole 90 mins.
Go out there, and play like you have never played before, and prove to everyone that you are good enough to beat the drop!
Up The Blues!

Message: Hassle the opposition for the ball. Make them make mistakes and then take the chance to capitalise on them. Chase the ball and never give up. We can stay up. Look at Portsmouth. FA Cup Finalists. Who would have bet against them getting to the final? They fought for every ball, rode their luck at times but never gave up.

Remember that it’s not only the players that have a job to do. If you feel the crowd needs to be sprung into life, tell us. Shout come on at us and we'll start cheering and singing. We want to be the 12th man. We would love to be on that pitch with you, helping Southend, but we quite happily sit by the sides and cheer you on. We give you a bit of stick when your not playing that well sometimes, perhaps you should give us a bit of a reminder sometimes to sing up for the cause. If you’re going to take a free kick or throw in, turn to the crowd and as them to raise the roof.

Good luck lads, Southend till I Die

Message: Guys, we have five games left. It's been a rotten season for you all for various reasons but all we ask is that you give it absolutely everything in our remaining fixtures as it is imperative that we start 2010/2011 in the third tier. I know you sometimes receive stick from the sidelines - on the vast majority of occasions unfairly - but trust me, we're all right behind you. Come on, boys, put it in for the remaining 450 minutes (er, and don't forget injury time. Please?) and make everyone proud. We can still do this.

You've got 5 games left, there's no reason to give up. Put your mind and heart into these last games and then we wont go down. Macca and Grant, no more bookings please or you'll regret it; Barrett, you are a brilliant captain and I know it's been hard for you boys over the past few months, both financially and on the pitch, but get them all together, put in the effort and you'll be able to do it. We don't want to be playing League 2 football next season! :)

Now listen here you lot, i've been coming to Roots Hall for over 42 years while you were all tadpoles in your infancy. I've seen 7 or 8 relegations and dammed if i want another one. It's o.k for you guys who wont be here in a year or two, but for a few seconds during the game tomorrow, just look up into the stands and see what it means to us dedicated die-hards(fools?). Appreciate all the crap and untruths which have been quoted this season, but for christ sake win our last 3 homegames and get a draw at that dump which mascarades as Oldham, and hey-ho should be enough to keep our current status.

Hi Lads.

We've all heard the rumours about what's been going on behind the scenes but what happens on the pitch means a lot to us fans and we really value loyalty and commitment.

I'm coming down for this one and won't be getting home until about 4. Long journeys home from games are rotten after you've lost so please do your best to win!! I'm sure you will.

Message:

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rochdale is one of my few remaining grounds to visit. IF you screw it up now.................

PS: that last bit is something I added.

look their players in the eyes as you walk out the tunnel and just think 'if you want some, COME GET SOME......' coz this is southend united and we do not give up without a fight. we never have done and we never will. think manchester united, think chelsea, think liverpool... during our time as a club we have tested them all. name me another english club with a 100% record against the mancs. trust me each and every person there will be 110% behind you and all we can ask is that you please, please, please do the same for us on the pitch.

p.s. and macca please start shooting properly, the reason you're not getting paid is because you keep breaking all the windows in the flats behind the south stand and ron has to keep replacing them ;)

Shamelessly stolen from a famous film but it'll do for me!

Message:

I don’t know what to say, really. Three minutes till the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Now either we heal as a team or we’re gonna crumble, inch by inch, play by play, 'til we’re finished.

We’re in hell right now, gentlemen, believe me. And, we can stay here -- get the **** kicked out of us -- or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell one inch at a time.

Now, I can’t do it for you. I’m too old. I look around. I see these young faces, and I think -- I mean -- I made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I, uh, I ****ed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who’s ever loved me. And lately, I can’t even stand the face I see in the mirror.

You know, when you get old in life things get taken from you. I mean that's...part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out life’s this game of inches. So is football. Because in either game, life or football, the margin for error is so small -- I mean one-half a step too late, or too early, and you don’t quite make it. One-half second too slow, too fast, you don’t quite catch it.

The inches we need are everywhere around us.

They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch, because we know when we add up all those inches that’s gonna make the ****in' difference between winning and losing! Between livin' and dyin'!

I’ll tell you this: In any fight, it’s the guy who’s willing to die who’s gonna win that inch. And I know if I’m gonna have any life anymore, it’s because I’m still willin' to fight and die for that inch. Because that’s what livin' is! The six inches in front of your face!!

Now I can’t make you do it. You got to look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes! Now I think you’re gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows, when it comes down to it, you’re gonna do the same for him!

That’s a team, gentleman!

And, either we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals.

That’s football guys.

That's all it is.

Now, what are you gonna do?

"Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire." (Fred Shero)

"Somewhere along the line you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and things got hard, you started looking for things to blame. Like a big shadow.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s very mean and nasty place. And I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life.

But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forwards, how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.

Now if you know what you’re worth, you gotta be out there willing to take the hits and not point fingers ‘cos of him or her or anybody if you aint’ where you wanna be. Cowards do that. That ain’t you. You’re better than that." (Rocky Balboa)

"I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'" (Muhammad Ali)

“What we face may look insurmountable. But I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn't think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know.” (Arnold Schwarzenegger)
