North Korea

MK Shrimper

Striker
I suggest a pre-emptive nuclear strike at Pyongyang, size of Hiroshima before these crazed lunatics drag us all to hell.

Thoughts?

No they're not. Their leader may be. But the rest of the population clearly aren't. To suggest otherwise is racist.

:winking:

Got me  Did you not see when Kim Il Jong died? It's like everybody's family dog had died - which it probably had if they were hungry.

But they've been indoctrinated to believe that he is almost a God. They are ordered to praise him in public, so dissent is punished.

They're normal people who are simply acting as they seem normal. To them, we are the 'loons'. Having lived in Korea for six months the continual misguided comments when talking on the matter begin to grind.

Everyone would benefit from watching this overview video (particularly the last five minutes in your case).

I'd rather no one nuked a country a few hundred miles from my house.

Ok, hands up my initial post was vaguely tongue in cheek (maybe in poor taste). I can't watch the video at work, but I will when I get home. You obviously live in the South...do you not think your opinions may change if you had the misfortune to "live" in the North?

Live as am now or to be North Korean? Two very different questions.

loons or not depending on your opinion, they would never act without the backing of China (for obvious reasons) and with the chinese condoning everything North Korea does at the moment that reaches the news or otherwise, i think we are safe and even then, bombing is a bit strong.

Really? What's not to like in an Officially Atheist country? Anyone with an imaginary friend is off to the labour camps quick-smart, and they control any tendency to over population by sensibly letting two or three million spare citizens starve to death. We could all learn something from them.

But it's not is it? Kim Jong Un is seen as a living god, so they've just replaced one deity for another.

The other day, admiring the pictures taken during our recent trip to rural North Korea with my new DLSR camera, the honest simplicity of the locals' existence got me thinking. In an age of rampant consumerism and on-demand television, can we really be surprised that the new generation would rather listen to hip hop than appreciate the subversive nature of the works of Arnold Schoenberg? It's time for the working class to fight back!
