At the moment there is cultivated farmland to the rear. Maybe a deal has been done with the farmer in order to erect this advertising hoarding.

Went past this earlier today and there were some more workman there finishing off the signage on the fence, something along the lines of New Southend Stadium Phase 1. I've no idea if it's at all related either but I noticed there's a bunch of work going on in Jones Memorial Recreation Ground, large JCB type excavator etc.

Something is definately happening. First Ron gives a statement to the echo which he hasn't done in an age. Then boards go up in Fossetts way. Ron has been spotted on the pitch a few games and has praised the fans. Chris phillips hasn't said a peep about the stadium signage.


I sense an echo exclusive coming soon.

JCB on Jones Memorial Ground is apparently related to a drainage issue being fixed, so no connection to stadium work.

I have been invited to Valencia v Sevilla this afternoon, First non-Shrimpers game in over a decade.
Have done a bit of research on the Estadio Mestalla and discovered that after years of discussion Valencia unveiled plans for a new version in the city.
The basic concrete structure of the stadium was built between August 2007 and February 2009, but work was then halted for financial reasons.
Latest update is that the Nou Mestalla will not be open for the clubs' Centenary in 2019!!

Fossetts has a rival!!
