Back on topic now please. So, will we see anyone sign on to be a Shrimper today?
I really hope we sign a big commanding CB before Saturday. Would much prefer Ralph as LWB and drop Clifford to the bench as for me I don’t rate him at the moment. Think theres a good player in there but he just hasn’t impressed me of what I have seen in pre season. Yes we need another forward but with the arrival of Hyde I think a CB is more important at this minute

I wonder if the Premier League clubs are waiting towards the end of the window to see if they can get their players an EFL loan instead?

I'm not that fussed if we get anyone else in before tomorrow, we have a decent enough squad with options on the bench and they've been training together all week. Why upset the applecart by introducing an outsider and risk disappointing one of our contracted players who thought they would be in the squad for the first game of the season?

We don't play again for a week, so maybe assess things after tomorrow and then see how things are regarding injuries, suspensions etc.

Challenge is left sided/left footed CBs are more difficult to find and until then we need Ralph there..

Personally I think we are a bit too worried about left footed CBs. Not saying it isn’t important but since Lopata left we haven’t had someone who is absolutely determined to head the ball away. That’s the gap. Maybe lomas can plug it, but gubbins wasn’t that player

Playing 2 CBs it would be less important - in a back three where the LCB get pulled wider on occasion to cover its much more important I think.

That is true but if the choice is good in the air or nice left foot it’s always good in the air. Especially if like us it’s your weakest area.

Ya. Not saying it’s not important. But where we aren’t good enough in both boxes that’s where we need this one

Not sure its necessarily that they aren't good in the air- its more positioning and organisation. At least I hope so given they are CBs!

Tony Lee has joined Farnborough from Poole on loan. Quite surprising as us, Yeovil and Torquay were interested in him.
