After the drama of the match with HMRC is over (for now at least) it’s back to matters on the pitch and a Friday night under the lights at Roots Hall.

Since being well beaten by the Blues at The Hive on 1st November, Barnet went on an amazing run, with only 1 defeat (in the cup at League One Accrington Stanley).

This winning run was brought to an end, like our recent one, when they conceded four goals at Notts County on a Tuesday night, and since then they've lost 3 of the next 4 games including being beaten at home by Oldham on Tuesday night.

Despite their poor form over the last 5 games, they still sit 4th in the table however they are now only 3 points ahead of us with an inferior goal difference which means a win on Friday night could see us leapfrog them.

From the Blues' point of view there are some interesting conundrums around players returning from injury. At the time of writing we don't know if Blondy's loan has been extended or if Cardwell, Murphy or Ralph are fit to start. One would assume that Kacper will be back having come on at Torquay.

There's sure to be a good atmosphere on Friday night, especially after the last few weeks, so who would you choose to start the proverbial "6-pointer" and what do you predict the result will be?

Unfortunately won't be at this one, away on a pre-planned weekend break in Norfolk.

Will be putting this on the TV however if I can. Fingers crossed for a big three points

Recently, Barnet seem to score consistently but they do concede for fun.

In their last 5 games they’ve shipped 14 (nearly 3 per game) and scored 9 (nearly 2 per game).

On that basis, a Blues 3-2 win is well worth a few bob.

Same team I presume from Saturday?
Or as I suspect Lomas dropped again for Lopata (harshly)
Powell and Hyde up top, any news on the fragile one cardwell.
Great opportunity to go 4th....blimey after the last few years saying we could go 4th...in any division sounds good.
Fingers crossed for Gus.

From the Barnet Fan's forum (where they are very concerned over their "flappy" goalkeeper) some kind thoughts coming our way:

So..... it looks like we are going to the Costa del Essex to take on Southend Disunited on Friday in our latest Bananarama fixture.

After Ron Martin rooted around in his brown paper envelopes taken from the turnstiles to find the missing £1.4 million for the tax man a match, which seemed to be at risk, looks like going ahead. I am truly glad for Southend United fans but something must be done to get this charlatan out of football.

To see Southend United, a well supported and friendly club floundering around in the national league seems very fishy to me.

Plus another thought from the Barnet forum which I enjoyed:

Looking forward to this. Only time I've been to Roots Hall 1994 Southend v Birmingham 11,000 packed in.
Fry returned with Barnet players who had played for Southend to say the atmosphere was toxic is an understatement. Southend fans sang Karen Brady is a whore for 90 minutes. Great game and àtmosphere
