Its soo good to read a post match thread! From the sound of it, despite the obvious, t. While I am still concerned, I am looking forward to going to the game (round the corner from my parents) on Canvey on Tuesday. Just in case...

So nice to have something positive to talk about for once. Three really well taken goals from Woody. Looks like he’s developed really nicely and could be a big player for us this season.

I don’t go to many away games so I have little comparison but live in Stortford so went yday.
The stadium gave me an insight into just tiny things Roots Hall could do.
For one, it felt so clean and relatively new. Also, I thought the food options were great; food was fresh and delicious! With good beers on tap too.
Of course it’s a smaller stadium so easier to maintain but it felt a lot nicer and theres easy wins RH could do.

In terms of the playing side, I thought we looked incredibly comfortable and essentially echo what’s been said.
Jack Wood looked class - you could easily see the difference in ability and decision making between him and Powell. Wood knew when to drop in deep, take a touch and turn or when to just lay it off first time. I’m hoping he can be our new and slightly bigger Jack Payne this season.
Powell will always take a minimum of 4-5 touches before getting his head up and you can lose that moment for the decisive pass in that time.
Fonguck also looked very smooth on the ball and showed clever touches throughout.

Is Crowhurst still with us? I noticed he wasn’t involved today. It’d be a shame if he’s moved on, looked a good prospect.
I was going to ask the same thing. It doesn't look good on the face of it. Hopefully his just got an injury and decided not to travel.

Edit: Speaking of RB's, no Demetriou either?

Is Ralph using Blues to get fit - or has Kev offered him a new deal when he's allowed?
I guess beggars can't be choosers. But others have referred to Cardwell as 'balsa wood' so what does that make our Nathan? Papier maché?

This is one of the reasons I have been going to a lot of stortford games over the last 3 seasons, the football is good and honest and it’s a nice little stadium that holds around 4,500, I was a season card holder for around 6 years at southend but because of work and I have to work some weekends at stansted airport it made sense, bit of a sod they’ve put stortford in national north now although I will more than likely go to few away games.

Ralph did see quite a bit of the ball yesterday and didn’t have a bad game, it just annoyed me how many times he just pumped the ball in the air at times instead of going inside to the feet of a player, too many long balls from him, we didn’t even have a tall man up front.

Holding on to Wood? Yea that old chestnut. Shiver me timbers I’m Sycamore bids coming in for our prospects. No doubt Forest Green are interested. Especially on a get now pay later basis - will ow(e)

Do we think Kev will ever consider any formation other than a 3-5-2?

If you had just two pre-season games to prepare for the season would you try a new shape or stick to the one the players knew and played well in?

Smooth is definitely the word for Wes. Whilst everyone is talking about Wood taking a step forward, Wes is one I’m expecting to take a step forward. Last season never really got going for him but a season in the system playing with the same players and another year on from his ACL, he could be a big player for us. He’s such a silky player.

Both Demetriou and Crowhurst are out of contract and therefore ineligible as I far as I understand. See also Benton.

4,500 capacity? Geez, wouldn’t want to be there in a capacity crowd. It’s a nice ground for smaller crowds though and I’ve always enjoyed our preseason visits.

What's Bridge's status then ? Thought he was out of contract but he played yesterday ?

Bridge and Ralph are assumed to be playing on a non-contract basis.

With 14 under contract there was space for a further two.

The one I’m not sure about is Sandat. He was there but didn’t play. Like Jacob Bland he’s just completed his second year scholarship. I suppose as Bland came on as sub they must be able to offer scholarship extensions - although they are probably wanting to offer Sandat a pro deal.

I know for a fact that Ralph wants to stay. He’s had offers but is settled and loves the club. I’d expect him to sign a contract when/if embargo is up.
