Breaking News OLDHAM game now ALL TICKET. No pay on the day - sales finish midnight Friday online

I'm protesting tomorrow, cleaning crap off seats Sunday, and hopefully watching the team the following Weekend. For me, I don't see any of these things as mutually exclusive. But if others do, fine, that's their call.
Top Man IMHO

No-one should stop us from supporting OUR club :-) its not Martins club its the fans and the local Community , he will leave over the next 12 months, fingers crossed we can survive in the National League next season.

Kevin Maher and his team need our support 110% next season , its going to be interesting to say the least :-)

Crowd 5,600

750 from Oldham

Southend United Game

With the ongoing uncertainty of whether our first league game of the season against Southend United will be taking place at Roots Hall or not, OASF contacted the National League to seek clarity on the situation.

For those unaware, Southend’s ground, Roots Hall, currently does not have a valid safety certificate. With this still unresolved a week before the game is meant to take place there, this has unsettled many supporters who already have travel and accommodation booked.

The Shrimpers Trust indicated this morning that the deadline for getting the safety certificate had been extended until close of business on Monday (basically around 5pm).

We received a response from Mark Ives, General Manager of the National League, this morning:

Thanks for the email.

Although on holiday I am monitoring this matter personally due to the importance to all.

I appreciate the issue for all supporters (of both teams) and we will be making the final decision at 5pm on Monday at the very latest. If we have enough information before that then it will be made earlier but it will not go past this time

Thank you.

Mark

From our perspective, this is incredibly disappointing. If the venue is changed late on Monday, fans will lose potentially hundreds of pounds. It is unacceptable that the decision has been left so late. We have expressed these views to the National League.

Fair enough - don't blame them for contacting the NL.

Frankly I'm more than a little miffed that this game isn't available for any sort of streaming package on the NL's own website with the game just a week away now.(Not a good look /sign),

I would have thought that people would have realised by now that all their protests haven't made the slightest difference to Ron Martin's actions. A slight irritation at the best. Protest all you want but the true supporter will be behind the team when needed. How can protesting when Maher and co are on the pitch trying to get a favourable result help anybody but Oldham. Show the world that whatever the situation the supporters are there showing solidarity with the players.
Wow, stunning read that, what a blinkered vision. You are making it all about 3 points v Oldham as more important than the bigger fight going on here.
EVERY fan loves to sit and support the team but the true supporters are the ones going above and beyond in this fight. God knows how many different posters post here but only volumes in hundreds are the ones carrying the fight and standing outside Ron’s.
What makes you be a better fan by just attending a match like every other matchday, over those guys campaigning and giving up their weekends to protest

I'll be shocked if it goes ahead. Even if the supporter's pull off a miracle this weekend and we get issued the certificate, I just don't see how we have enough fit players to fulfill this or any fixture at the moment. Points deduction is only a matter of time.

It's not blinkered at all just been observing the last few months and Ron Martin's position doesn't seem to have changed at all, can't be sure as he hasn't been very forthcoming. How can not supporting the team at their lowest ebb and being on a protest outside somebody's house be helpful in anyway at all. How is it helpful to the players to get a decent result against Oldham on the night, please help me to see your point of view? Three points ideally is all that matters.

I don't quite know where to start with this lunacy. For one the players management and staff want to see the back of RM as much or even more than the fans when they are only sometimes paid wages by the club. They cannot stand the bloke and what he has single handedly done to SUFC.

The protests are there to make RM's life uncomfortable and to put pressure on him to sell up and **** off.
I believe over 1000 fans went to Canvey game last Tuesday so they are not in any way not supporting the team.

No 3 points is not all that matters ,that is an absurd view. What matters is getting that cretin out of our club and the club being able to go forwards on a steady ship.

I couldn’t give a flying wotsit about three points next Saturday to be honest. That is the least of our problems. The only thing that matters is removing RM from office. Everything else that is good, will follow from that point.

I’m making the assumption that you are actually aware that there is a much bigger picture here than three points on Saturday?
You do realise the actual club is on the brink here right?

Three points is of transitory importance. I'd argue that the long term future of the football club is far, far more important and worth fighting for.

I didn't like the idea of boycotts and protest when we started out. It felt alien, given all the games I'd watched and the miles I'd travelled (season ticket holder living in Lewisham for the last thirty odd years).

But there comes a point when you realise that your ambitions for your club, and your values, are what should guide you. And if they are not matched by those of the owner - then perhaps you should join with others to do something about it.

You had me worried with that post so I logged on to nationalleague.tv and it is showing as scheduled for streaming. My account was debited £22 odd the other day as well so I hope there are no last minute snags. Subject to the game actually being on of course!

Apathy. I feel it. 10-15 people at Ron's house today.. (lots of other plans happening).. many people not sure because of the Ron situation and whether we will have a club anyway. What an awful time to be a shrimper. The club needs us there. A defiant support of f-you Ron. Maybe a time to get our buckets out walking around the pitch or by the entrances so 'he' don't get anything he don't deserve.
