Echo News The six players Southend United face contract decisions on

GSM we should bend over backwards for.

The rest.......meh

(Keep Demi and Martin as coaches though)

We absolutely should not be bending over for anyone.

GSM has an option for next season, which will be taken up. Like all of our contracted players, they will all be here next season unless we receive an offer of an acceptable amount. What that amount is for any of those players, no one on here will have a clue.

IF we receive offers for our players, which we deem acceptable, and they move on, I highly doubt we will ever find out the value of those as most deals are “undisclosed” these days anyways.

With the Rat still in charge is there any possibility of him asset stripping / fire sale selling players before he leaves ? Who actually makes decisions on to sell or not to sell ???

Don't knock it until you've tried it. :Winking:

Using the logic that Ron has been solely been in charge of the clubs finances since the consortium came on the scene, who sanctioned the signings of Waldron, Crowther, Morton and the loans of Dackers and Woodman?

Just putting it out there, but the current winding up order adjourned until middle of May does that mean we are under an embargo again? Of so does that mean we are unable to register new contracts like before?

Personally , I feel that Wood will reject an offer as will Wes , Callum will accept if we put something in front of him (as long as it isn't stupidly low) , Gus will be extended but be looking to move on in January if we dont look nailed on to get back into the EFL.

Demi and Martin , appear to be good coaches , so keeping their playing registration open should we need the cover seems sensible to me

Wood can't reject if it's a club option to trigger the one year extension (which I think it is). I don't think Gus is looking to move on at all but you never know. Agree about JD & Martin

I think it’s been said before that embargoes are only for non-payment of HMRC or footballing debts. As the legal fees don’t fall under either, I’m not sure we’d be put an embargo.

Having said that, the National League do seem to make up the rules as they go along so who knows.

I'd keep all, yes perhaps not good enough to start (bar Gus) but more than capable as back up options and squad depth.

- Trigger Powell, Wes, Gus and Wood 1 year extension
- Loan out Wood till Jan see how he gets on at a Chelmsford/Braintree/Aveley
- Powell 4th/5th choice forward option, depending on if we sign 1 or 2 new forwards.
- Wes as a midfield option, links up with Bridge well can still do a job.

We're not flushed with cash all of a sudden and need slight tweaks not complete overhauls. That being said I won't be an ounce bothered should we retain none of the above but GSM

- JD and Dave Martin both retain their coaching roles, but with player registrations if injurys hit hard.
