When Gus loses it, you know we have a problem.
Bridge was found out last season, but still backwards, forwards, backwards, forwards and goes nowhere.
Moncur, done nothing last few games.
Boone waste of space.
Crowther just hangs on to players in both boxes.
Even KAF, who I like the look of, has started passing sidewards and backwards.
Colin like a cat on a hot tin roof.
Husin been missing for weeks.
Morton can't work out, had a good spell but offers little, but more than most.
Taylor & Ralph look deflated by the madness going on around them.

Overall, this team has been well and truly sussed out, its just so easy for teams to beat us.

I really can’t add too much, as it seems all that could be said about an awful showing today has already been said.

The spark of energy the players had last season seems to have been extinguished for some reason. It doesn’t help when your key target man gets sold to a team in the same league as us. Of course you already know HC scored today for FGR. I know one player doesn’t make a team, but a few good ones can certainly make a difference. If we can’t retain the odd good player then what chance have we got realistically? Normally try to be positive but looking at today’s performance it’s hard to see a way forward. Something needs to change, and change quickly!
Best part of the day was a couple of drinks in the Far Post with Mrs Templar before the game.

why would COSU back Kev and co with more money to buy players ,They have already and look at the dross he used that money on, Sorry Kevs times up , appoint a new manager and back that manager to get the players we need and rid ourselves of some f the dross we have. And we have plenty of it . Attendance will fall be interesting to see at our next home game if we anywhere near the 6000 mark .People will stop forking out their hard earned to watch the dross being served up, its like going to a restaurant you pay good money and expect good food not burnt offerings .

Anybody got Steve Tilson's number. 🤣
Thought id have a quick scout and think because often the maherites who enjoy self inflicted pain will ask who is there to replace. Came up with this list with a cursory glance at managers in and around league 1/2/NL who might be tempted with our silent giant status.

If someone wants to take this as a poll please do

Available potential coaches who have been/were highly rated

Matt gray - unattached (got a part time team promoted v Stockport and Wrexham)
Steve Morrison - Sutton (ex striker, highly rated but just started at Sutton)
Rob Elliot - Gateshead (bigger crowds, more resources in future?)
Andy mangan - coach Stockport (caretaker so little experienced but highly regarded)
Neil critchley - unattached (highly regarded)
Paul Lambert - unattached (not popular but has great promotion experience)
Michale appleton - unattached (perhaps won't want to drop)
Lee Johnson - unattached (as above)
Ritchie Humphreys - unattached (too long out of mgt?)

Southend legends who might be interested or are just fanciful thinking.

Matt Lockwood - unattached (super keen to get a role after managing a Caribbean island)
Adam barratt - coach Millwall (unlikely interested)
Paul Clark - unattached (opinionated - put money where the mouth is?)
Glen pennyfather - unattached (as above)
Stan collymore - unattached (big risk but still highly motivated seemingly)
Steve tilson - unattached (not far of heybridge swift's at this rate)
Darren currie - coach (tainted?)
Mark Bentley - coach (tainted?)
Spencer prior - unattached (move from aus??)

I'd have Tilly back in a heartbeat.

This will be easy

Today's team everyone- 1

Management -10000

Time to go Kev, thanks for your hard work over the last two years. But if you can't do well when we have no financial constraints what's the issue?

Abject one system, never changes, Bridge is clearly his son. I also believe another manager would of got us play offa last year too - Kevs just a very poor tactician.

I don't want Currie or Benno stepping up, clear the decks and bring in someone new with new ideas and the ability to play more than one system
If there is a change in the position of Head Coach, I would like Currie to step up. He was incredibly unlucky to lose out on two occasions (first to Molesley and then to Kevin Maher) and demonstrated at Barnet when he took them to the play-offs that he believes in attractive, attacking football.

Defending an issue now.
Shake-up needed
Crowther Gubbins ralph
Get Taylor in DM role we may stop teams strolling through the midfield at will. Crowther looked good last year on the right of a three.
Great suggestion about putting Taylor in midfield until Miley is fit again at least.

It’s only two weeks since we played Solihull Moors off the park and won 4-2. Then we had a bit of pace from 2 goal Pepple - so he gets left out of the next game and it’s all gone tits up!
Bonne and Pepple looked good up front together in the Solihull game and yet Pepple gets left out in the next game so that we can play one lone striker. Maybe Pepple was injured, but if he was fit and yet sidelined there needs to be serious questions asked about the management team's judgement.

It is loyalty, but I don't think it's blind.

I watched him lead a team of players last year when many of them weren't paid when due, who didn't have cover for rotation, water at the training ground, some of whom weren't offered legal protection of a contract. Those players nearly made the playoffs, Kevin Maher turned coal into gold last year when he could have walked away to a much easier job in a higher division. We all saw it and he won manager of the season as a result.

We have started badly and don't look likely to improve tomorrow but this is, at the moment, just a bad run of form and there's no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Could Maher and co really have walked last season though - I don't recall any job offers coming their way, so they would have walked out to nothing.

Plus, wasn't it only one period last season where they were paid late (admittedly it was over a month late)?

IMO there are managers in this division over the last few seasons who have done better jobs (getting teams into promotion/playoff spots with little funds).

Though I hold my hands up to the job they did last season, I still maintain that even with the 10 point deduction, we should have made the playoffs - we dropped points to some shocking teams (Flyde at home and Oxford City away are 2 immediate ones that spring to mind).

I think people are being overly harsh on Bonne, as it must be so frustrating being a forward at this club (could be another reason HC jumped ship!) because our build up play is so slow.

There was one point where Bonne came deep to receive the ball, and once he got it, no-one else moved - he had no options to pass it to.

Someone else mentioned how slow we are to break, yet look how many times we been hit on the break from our own corners etc!

Three defeats on the bounce, each one worse than the other. Time for COSU to act. Put Maher on gardening leave and hand the reins to Currie. He would surely have a different approach but the continuity would be there.

I'd have Tilly back in a heartbeat.
Which version? The one that got us a double promotion or the subsequent one?

I don’t for one minute think that Maher’s job is untouchable, but I do think that the clamour from some on here is premature. At almost every corner plans have had to be ripped up, Kensdale (right decision), Cardwell, too late for decent transfers are not excuses but they are facts. Add injuries into the mix as well. Is it just me that thinks there is something fundamentally wrong with the amount of injuries we seek to get over the past few seasons. I am convinced part of the reason for that is today’s football boots.

On the flip side of all that not one of the new signings has made a mark yet and that doesn’t reflect well. What we need is for Bridge to trip up in the penalty area and the ball to fly into the net off his arse. I’m convinced his current form is temporary.

I’m still relaxed. Distance doesn’t make my heart any weaker but it does mean I don’t have the direct and post match emotion after a loss.

Keep the faith. The good times are coming!

Currently too many players seem untouchable.
Bridge
Noor
Collin
Moncur
Bonne
No matter how bad they play, they still start the following game, I know we don't have a huge squad, but other squad members must be wondering how bad they must be if they can't get a game?
Add to that the lack of substitutions used, and when they come on, I still think Kev only thinks we have 12 players...

I do like the idea for Kev to take a week off, and Currie step up and prep the team for next week, if something doesn't change I fear for the trio at the top.

As much as we all love Tilly, he was never a master tactician and relied on passion. When that's gone, what's left?

Christ, sounds familiar...
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and Paul Brush. I despair of some on here when it comes to bringing back oldies. If Tilly was still a 'managerial player', he would still be at a full time professional club.
