Echo News Shrimpers stars line up in darts tournament to boost Mind

A really enjoyable evening, and good to see the camaraderie and good humour between the 8 players playing. No issues between Moncur and the others, and he was a really good sport.

EIGHT Southend United players took part in an entertaining darts tournament to raise funds for South East and Central Essex Mind.

Adam Crowther, Joe Gubbins, Nathan Ralph, Oli Coker Gus Scott-Morriss, Jack Bridge, Harry Taylor and George Moncur all stepped up to the oche at a packed Chalkwell Park Rooms.

And it was Bridge who triumphed in the final, beating Scott-Morriss 3-1.

"It's been a really good night for a great cause," said Bridge.

"Sadly it's something which has affected the club with players in the past and it's good to be able to do nights like this to raise money."
Dubbed, the night of National League darts the players took part ahead of this week's Mental Health Day and was superbly called by Dan Weidner.

The players chose their own walk out music while shirts were also provided by Darts Corner.

The event, which was sponsored by JSL Window Cleaning Services raised £2,600 but the full amount has yet to be calculated.

The darts tournament followed Southend United's Match for Mind which took place against Maidenhead on Saturday.

There's more to the story, and more photo's on the official site, southendunited.co.uk, plus their great nicknames for the night. Worth a look.

Does anyone have a list of all their nicknames on the back of the shirts?

Saw: Scotty Too Hotty (GSM), Wreck it Ralph (Nathan Ralph), The Big AC (Adam Crowther), The Westcliff Wizard (Jack Bridge) - didn't see the others?

And also, where did the shirts come from? Need/want.

Was a good evening, but wonder why there might have been issues between Moncur and the others, all seemed hunky dory and they were having a laugh - except Joe Gubbins who looked a bit out of the 'clique' at points..

I think it might be to refute some comments in other threads speculating wildly that maybe players coming in from higher divisions may have a billy big bollocks attitude upsetting the comradre.

They are "Mission" tops which is an own brand of Darts Corner.

Darts Corner will do custom stuff for you and also have an SUFC collection
