Breaking News Season Tickets - now on sale

You've worded that much better now and thank you for clarifying.

What I will say is where do you draw the line? If you cannot afford it then you cannot afford it. Should you get a priority discount just because you cannot afford it? Maybe you just say 'I can't afford to buy a season ticket this year so will save and go to the games I can get to instead?'

What the club have done is honour something that has been around for generations. I probably wouldn't be a Southend fan if it wasn't for an older relative taking me when I was a nipper so it does have benefits. Also, potentially those older than 62 use services in the ground more often than those in a different age category and can be relied upon to increase matchday revenue perhaps?

Just to say that I understand your view point but I just don't feel it's logical, nor practical. As I said at the top, where do you draw the line?
I'm not on the board and massively underestimated the response to my views I feel like maybe doing it in line with certain benefits rather than age would be fairer but I know it's imperfect also. Tbh I just want to get my head down at work and get back to dreaming about new signings

I wonder how many we've sold now.

My son did make me laugh last night. He told me that Barnet had just tweeted a message from their manager after having sold an "amazing" 1000 season tickets. Their's have been on sale a lot longer than ours.

Just goes to show how well run they are, unfortunately.

It’s very sad that Barnet although promoted will be a Football League club with such small support ☹️

Ageist lol I if my point Is strange why have I not had one decent reason for the blanket discount for over 62s remaining. Single parents subsidising pensioners that can afford the full price doesn't make sense and if you took some time to think about it you'd realise there must be fairer ways of distributing discounts so the people that receive them need them not just over 62s
There are a lot of things in life which are unfair, and in a way, I understand where you are coming from. However, the way British culture is structured is that them that are of a certain age (pensioners & over 62s) qualify for benefits which are subsidised by the working population. The quid pro quo is that those pensioners subsidised others before they retired. There are reductions for some other workers, dependant what they do, but the prospect of sharing out reductions across the board just will not happen, either in life, or at Southend Utd.

You too will be older one day. I see that you don't have a problem with rewarding long term fans but do you really think that many of those entitled to the older persons' discount are new fans who have recently started attending games ? I think you will find that most older fans are happy that they are still well enough to attend Roots Hall and support the team they have followed for years,

A long service discount I'd never dispute it's basing the discount purely on age I have issue with
And with the reinstated winter fuel allowance woo hoo 👏

And have been for a while, putting in place an off field infrastructure that has supported and gone a long way to underwriting their on field success.
At least we can now say we are a well run club thanks to COSU and have a pathway for our own successes to come.

Indeed. We have a long way to go though, even to get a new east stand that will allow us to create new revenue streams.

One thing that Wembley made me realise is how effective a fanzone could be. We were in the Box Park before the game. Admittedly that was on a completely different scale, but it was fantastic. I even got pictures with Calum Powell and Mark Gower. Apparently I missed out on Freddy Eastwood though.

I know SUEPA often invite ex-players to matches, but having them mingle in a fanzone before the match might be quite a draw for some people.

Yes COSU do have a lot to undertake and we are relativity at the beginning of what hopefully is a journey that results in actual visible achievements rather than the fantasy of our previous ownership.
Agree that there are many positives to be had with the introduction of a fanzone, lends itself to a great way to support fan engagement, especially if it looks to encourage and cater for family groups, something for everyone should be the order of the day.

If I remember correctly they have an owner that is spunking absolutely tons of money in to Barnet. Granted they have a few other income streams like the pitches around the stadium etc but their owner is pumping in a hell of a lot of money still on top of that.

Tried for about half hour but gave up. Just assume it’s busy on the actual office.

Another question.. I’ve seen it said the tickets that are grey with black circles have been renewed. But mine show like that and I haven’t done it yet 🤔

Incorrect, they are the ones that are reserved but not yet renewed.

Anyone had any luck calling and getting through to the ticket office?
I emailed and Sarah just called me back, mine now all sorted. Seems that, if you had more than one ticket on your account (for other family members) there may well be a problem with your renewal.
