I had the entire kit. Heaven knows what the top was made from but it was horribly uncomfortable. I loved wearing it though.Did anyone ever own or still own either of the two admiral shirts that Southend wore in the seventies. Not sure if replicas were available
Only remember people having what I believe were coffer sports copies like this photo .
Does anybody have any colour photos of the first admiral shirts.

@londonblue This^^^^^ and it used to 'snag' really easily.I had the entire kit. Heaven knows what the top was made from but it was horribly uncomfortable. I loved wearing it though.
Me too!Classic kit that one. I’ve still got that scarf!
That specific shirt looks like the a Priory Athletic one rather than SUFC's Admiral.Did anyone ever own or still own either of the two admiral shirts that Southend wore in the seventies. Not sure if replicas were available

hi OBL please see my post above - not sure if it's what you pal is after though as i'm guessing was a knock off (but never realised at the time!)I happen to know of a former mod on here who would be interested in locating one of these too for a very specific reason - if anyone has one they would be willing to part with for a decent sum, please drop me a DM and I'll put you in touch.
Yes that’s my memory of it too coffer being the only option.I dont remember Admiral making replica kits for sale? I tried and ended up with the `coffer` kit as an only option?
Now the Bukta kit the year after was a lovely shirt that I have somewhere.
Great photosI still have the one I got for Christmas as a lad in the 70s!
To this day I never knew if it was official or a knock off. Back then we didn't care! We got what we could!
If anyone has any info on its origins that would be fantastic!!
Its well worn, but well loved!

It looks like something from a Children’s Film Foundation production such as The Glitterball or Sammy’s Super T ShirtI still have the one I got for Christmas as a lad in the 70s!
To this day I never knew if it was something the club sold (an 'official' thing, although not exactly a replica) or a knock off. Back then we didn't care! We got what we could!

Any photosYep, still got mine. Bagged it on the pitch at Newport, last game of the 77/78 promotion season. My pride and joy? Yes.
Does it still fit? Does it ****!
Hi ThorpeBayShrimper, Dave Goody here!!That specific shirt looks like the a Priory Athletic one rather than SUFC's Admiral.
I had two great seasons at u15 and u16 playing in the PA team playing alongside, amongst others, Dave Goody the SUFC history guru, Matt Johnson who played in Southend's youth teams (think he became an apprentice, same period as Warren May) and Gavin Axcell who Tilly once considered signing despite never being a pro and being 32 ish, but still possessing a great left foot. That Priory team was managed by Dave's dad Jim and Matt's dad Dave, brother of Anton Johnson. Wasn't Anton involved with SUFC at some point?!
If you can get in contact with Dave Goody he may be able to help. He may even have an Admiral shirt. Or a Priory Athletic one!
