5 co hosts ??? Are you all appearing together in each episode ???

Could work if it’s video but if it’s listening only maybe a too many cooks spoil the broth.

The format will show how that works, and they won't be all speaking at once. Two are from the ladies' team, so they'll be covering the ladies team, plus don't forget that some may not always be on every episode. People have jobs so can't always be available. The co-hosts will be introduced here once a week starting next week.

IMG-20250701-WA0011.jpgIntroducing the first of our co-hosts, Matt Adlington.

Matt has been a loyal Shrimpers fan since the age of 10—his first match was a thrilling 2-3 defeat to Manchester City that somehow hooked him for life. A stand-up comedian gigging across the UK, Matt’s no stranger to the mic, having also presented on Radio Essex and taken shows to both the Leicester and Edinburgh festivals.

His first brush with Southend United was… slightly unconventional. When he launched his first comedy club, he ended up becoming one of the club’s official mascots—the Funny Bunnys—donning a full kit and rabbit suit on matchdays for an entire season.

Off-stage, Matt is a football manager obsessive, a chess player, and is currently learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (just in case we face Dagenham away again). As a co-host of Talking Shrimpers, he’s bringing humour, passion, and a fresh perspective to life at Roots Hall.

The second of our five co-hosts, we are pleased to introduce Chloe Wooloway.

Chloe has been a Southend United and Chelsea fan her whole life, going to her first game as a seven-year-old with her dad to watch SUFC play. She’s been part of Southend United Ladies for the past three seasons and currently serves as vice-captain.

Although recovering from an ACL injury last season, Chloe’s love for sport remains strong, with football, cricket, and skiing being a big part of her life. Away from the pitch, she works on the Football Manager game and is proud to be involved in efforts to bring women’s football into the game for the first time.

Chloe is really looking forward to co-hosting Talking Shrimpers, helping give a voice to women in football, and playing a small part in putting Southend United Ladies on the map.

Our next Co-host reveal is Charlie Mullard.

Charlie has been a passionate Southend United supporter for over 30 years, following the Blues home and away through the highs and lows. For him, matchday is more than just 90 minutes of football – it’s a release, a chance to escape the pressures of everyday life and immerse himself in the club he loves (even if they cause him the occasional stress!).

Away from the terraces, Charlie works in the prison service as a dog handler – a demanding and often intense role. Football, especially Southend United, provides that vital balance and sense of community.

You may recognise Charlie’s voice from BBC Essex’s Football Fans Phone-In, where he’s become a familiar name offering sharp, honest takes on Southend’s performances, often alongside former Blues player Glenn Pennyfather.

When he’s not supporting Southend, Charlie stays active playing five-a-side football and has already conquered the London Marathon twice – with hopes high for a third in the near future.

Now joining the Talking Shrimpers team as co-host, Charlie brings his grounded perspective, years of loyal support, and a no-nonsense, balanced view on all things Southend United. Expect insight, passion, and plenty of honest debate throughout the season.
