solutions at left back ?

Keep Barrett at left back!!!

Jeeees! Barrett is totally committed to the cause and wears the badge of SUFC with pride, no matter what position he plays.

This thread should be about keeping Barrett at left back. The man was quality Friday night.

I still dont see what all the fuss about Hammell is, he's just average IMHO, and a weak link whenever he is in the team.

I state my case, and no doubt i'll be shot down in flames once again by all the Hammell lovers :guns: :D

Yawn :thump:

Yes you will be shot down in flames, as yes Barrett had a very good game on Friday night, as a one off, and he said himself he did not mind playing there as a one off as he has done it before, but you must concede you are wrong on the Hammll issue:

1) The vast majority of people on here do like Hammell.

2) T&B were really worried when Hammell got injured (as were the rest of the squad), talking about how consitant a performer he had been all season.

3) Before injury Hammell was the only outfield player to have played every minute this season, due to his good performances.

OK, I admit that I am a big Hammell fan, but...

...Just leave Hammell alone :guns:

Just a thought - Anthony Barness was released by Plymouth last week. Haven't seen that he has got himself fixed up anywhere.

We had him on loan (from Chelsea I think) years ago, I think after Sir Chris Powell left (may have been even longer ago after Edinburgh left, can't remember). Didn't think much of him at the time but he has played a good class of football since then.

Hasn't played much since Holloway arrived at Plymouth but was a regular in the Championship last season. He's available and experienced and a specialist left back. Might be worth signing as cover until the end of the season.

..just a thought

Barness is a right-footed left-back. Have never been a fan of right-footed left-backs. We've had a few down the years: Barness, Booty, Wilson, Dublin all spring to mind none of whom were much good.

If Hammell was injured for the rest of the season Id still not want Barrett at left back.

He is right footed, is poor going forward (apart from the odd burst from centreback), doesnt link up with the midfielder and will never put a cross, er across.

He is a very square peg in a very round hole. He will do as an emergency cover but in no way should we consider him good enough for a left back.

I thought we had seen enough damage caused by players playing out of position.
