Shrimperzone Yoof

Should they be made to sit in a corner with a bag of Cheese and onion, discussing power rangers? or be allowed to the bar to talk turkey with the rest of us?

if..there was a yoof section, and us old codgers entered, would we be classed as kiddie worriers?

Why stop at the Yoof, why not include us females or those over 40 (or 50)? I think you'd actually find the board a pretty boring place if you didn't have certain of us to wind up periodically.

does it always have to be about you, OBL?

I'm not in the mood to be patronised by you today, I take the cracks about going to do the washing up or the ironing, but imo the behaviour certain people on here at times is tantamount to bullying. A load of grown men picking on a 13 year old boy, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Not about you.
Not about bullying either.
Was a genuine discussion point...now I know you find it difficult not to comment on anything and everything so respectfully please keep on topic.

TBH I don't recall any posts which could be percieved as "bullying" once it was made clear that the poster was only 13.

He may have posted his age earlier on the "Live chat" thread, but I don't think that the majority view that one.

Firestorm, I have the utmost respect for you but anyone looking at his avatar pic would have clearly been aware of his age. He's never done anything to pretend he's anything else and has posted stuff about Westcliff High and being in Year 9 (the shooting incident a few weeks back) which I know for a fact some of these people read.

So, no, in this case it's not about me, but the way some people on here behave like a pack and verbally attack someone who dares to try and be different. Yet again though, I think it was the rep as much as the banter that got him, and yet again, I'm left with the feeling that the board would be a much more pleasant place without it.

When Pubey asks me directly if it always has to be about me then I think I have the right to answer that. Interestingly I don't think any of the "yoof" have actually made any comment, maybe they found the original statement patronising?

You do seem determined to turn this thread into a one woman campaign about bullying however...I repeat again that this thread is not about that.

Ok, well how many 13 year olds (as they are the only ones who've commented elsewhere on the yoof thing) do you know that would be happy sat in a corner eating a packet of cheese and onion discussing Power Rangers?

If you'd have said eating a packet of cajun squirrel and discussing Miley Cyrus you may have been a bit nearer the mark!

In all seriousness, we've discussed youngsters coming onto this board before and the suitability of some of the stuff that gets posted. If their parents are happy for them to use the forum then that's fine, I've met Dan's parents as have a few of the others of us, trouble is, those that have are probably not typical examples of the posters on here. I'm actually really surprised Dan didn't get his old man to come on and have a word, although he possibly didn't want him to know what he'd got himself into.

It was obvious Dan was quite a youngster, I just wish people would think about how they'd feel if it was their kid brother or son being treated as he was. Sorry to come over all school marmish.

what counts as yoof? nowadays most kids have worse language, are more aggresive and are generally more scary than the older folk. i don't think it means we should treat all kids with the same animosity as one that runs between your legs, jumps up and steals ur wallet from you, but it's a fact!

dave has come on here and to be honest, if anyone had posted that picture they would have got the same treatment. i havent read all the comments but i think things have been taken a bit out of proportion (like rihanna's forehead to the rest of her head). it wasnt intended to be bullying, a bit of banter maybe, but i dont believe than anyone here started out with the intention to bully him.

no i'm off to watch bullseye...you can't beat a bit of bully!
bom bom bom bom bodom bodom!

(i called him dave - obl's calling him dan....arrrgh i've not been this confused since i realised that miriam, on there's something about miriam, was a man)

Why bother asking the question? Like you said it's only a message board, if it's a serious question then no, nobody should be segregated for any reason unless they cause trouble.

Sorry but what has an avatar pic got to do with someones age ?
I would imagine that most posters on here don't look at an avatar and think its an indication of someones age ?

As for the WHSB thread, IIRC there were so many posts along of the lines of "I go there" I switched off, and I can't imagine I was on my own in this one.

Equally one might say that as he was "in the pub" he has 18.

Anyway, since he announced he was 13 (instead of people having to try andwork it out ) there have not been any bullying posts or rep, some one can assume that they are not people who choose to harass kids.
