We have played AFC Wimbledon twice before in the Football League Trophy, one win and a draw.

Tomorrow's low-key (for us) clash sees, for the second time in 4 days, a first year Football League referee who has never refereed Southend before.

Tomorrow's, at 24 years of age, is somewhat younger than Sunday's. He is Will Finnie from Luton. He coaches referees for the Bedfordshire FA.

His 14 matches as a League referee, predominantly in League Two, have seen a high 60 yellow cards and just 1 red. His last game was Kingstonian's Cup triumph over Macclesfield's youth team.

One of the Assistants is a Londoner and a PE teacher - Bhupinder (Bhupsy) Gill who is the son of ex-Football League referee Jarnail Singh who had a good career firstly in non-league football and then for a number of years on the League list (including 7 Southend home matches) until it all went a bit awry in his last couple of seasons which included a poor performance in the Brighton home game in 2008 when he sent Moussa off, the worst I’d seen him referee. His other son, Sunny Gill, is also a non-league referee. The other Assistant is Stuart Butler from Maidstone, a less than impressive non-league referee.

Fourth Official is Alan Dale from Ipswich, just as he was last time Wimbledon came to Roots Hall a few weeks ago.
