I have got into Becks Blue during the recent hot spell.

Anyone recommend any other good ones?

Alcohol free beer is a contradiction in terms - DO NOT ENCOURAGE THE *******S - have long glass of squash and ice (choose your flavour) is good for hot days if you cannot have alchohol

big fan of soda with a dash of lime in this weather. went to a gig last night and they served it for free (was driving). bonus.

Good one - something to be encouraged

Indeed, it was a surprising and nice touch. Shame the barman didn't have a tips jar. Nothing worse than going to some gastropub where they charge you £3 for a lime & soda.

The Cluny in Newcastle is a much recommended venue.

Agreed, can't see the point.

Nice post Cyril. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I have to go somewhere on Saturday which is too far for a cab - Oxford - and I have to drive home Saturday night. I have been fretting about nursing a pint of Guiness all night for weeks. This could be the solution.
I'll report back on Sunday.

is 'cider shandy' a real thing? in my head it works. I'm not a fan of lager or bitter shandy.

It's so I can enjoy a cold beer in the hot weather without the alcohol which dehydrates me.

A couple of Temazepam suppositories gives it a nice little kick though.

Maybe it's me, but beer hasn't got the nicest taste. I'd rather have what Pubey's having if I'm staying sober....Lime & Soda.

Yes. I used to drink it often. Not had it in a while and you may get an odd look to start with... but then offer them a taste. If it doesn't win them over, tell them to **** off as you're the customer. ;)

Also try with a generous dash of apple juice.

Will give it a whirl next time I'm down south, wouldn't get away with ordering it up here!
