An Evening with The Consortium

Looking forward to this evening - are the Shrimpers Trust in dialogue with Justin about content that night? Has anyone seen an agenda?

The kind of things I’d be interested to know:

- if the takeover isn’t complete by that night, what specific critical steps are needed before it will happen and when are these likely to take place?

- who is in the consortium? Do they hold equal shares? (If not, who holds the biggest share?)

- what are the governance arrangements re: the football club following them taking over?

- what are their plans for redeveloping Roots Hall and what is the timetable for this?

- what are their plans for the new training ground and what is the timetable for this?

- what are their plans for the football set up - e.g. academy, b-team, ladies team?

- what are their plans for merchandising, especially the supply of replica kits and the club shop?

- is there an ongoing role for Stan Collymore at the club (other than being a flipping legend!) - if so what is it?

- what is their plan for the development of the first team and do they have targets for this season and next that they can share?

I’m sure others can add to this (and please nobody mention onions!)
There's no specific conversations between the Trust and the club on this event, no. All fans who can attend should and should ask questions and engage. It's probable that future Q&As will be through the Shrimpers Trust but this is a proper town hall event that all fans should engage with if possible.

I think it was reported a little while ago that JR wasn't a fan so....

Q. Any thoughts on transfer speculation being posted on social media - if dislike why?

I spoke to a couple of the consortium yesterday & they were both massively appreciative at the interest shown but quite trepidatious of talking to such a large crowd in a big auditorium. They both have spoken in business forums to crowds in the 100's but they look on this as a real challenge.

From what I understood the Q&A element will be through Victoria Polley from BBC Essex but I am not one of those pesky ITKs that pollute most sensible discussion 😇, just what I gleaned from listening. It's patently obvious that one to one live questioning in that environment isn't logistically possible & anyway the one about the requisite number of onions on a burger could take up the whole night. 😂

I wonder, just myself, if there might be some time set aside for the Trust or the like representatives to ask pre-arranged questions. One of the guys said he'd like there to be some live element, like say through the BBC whatsapp, that people could send to Victoria on the night but that was only his thought & nothing that's planned as far as he knew.

Anyway they are well up for it & again I'd encourage anyone to talk to them as they really do want fan engagement & input. They know what they want to achieve however it'll take time but they both say, as does JR, that when they eventually pass their investment on they want the club in a much, much better place.

I can understand some nervousness from some in the consortium but not to worry because quite a few of us are there to thank them for their efforts and I’m sure it will all go for them and us, all Shrimpers together, can’t wait.

They'll be fine. A quick rendition of Moyet's 'Blue' by some 1,500 Shrimpers in the indoor arena as they arrive on stage will get everyone blubbing and the event will have to be abandoned due to over-emotion.

As an exile living in Norfolk, but still very much a Shrimper fan (and minor Shareholder), does anyone know what will happen to the rest of the current Board of Directors when the takeover is finally completed? I assume that a summary of the Consortium Evening will be posted for those unable to attend?

Is there a rough expected date of the takeover completion by the consortium? I can't remember but thought it was early part of new year, not sure what that means.

There’s been speculation about that elsewhere that it may be linked to a Southend City Council meeting, although which one is not yet clear.

If the takeover isn’t complete by 25/1 then hopefully we’ll get clarity at the meeting - I would imagine it’s one of the top questions for them to answer.
