Any truth in this d'ya think?

I'm pretty sure that the Cudicini rumour is true there's been lots in the press about that previously. I can't believe Malbranque, Edu etc though.

IMO, Malbranque should've been approached about something, because playing a few friendlies for England would improve him and possibly turn him into a decent player, same it didnt happen

I don't see any resaon to doubt it really.

Cudicini would still be an excellent choice as back up for James and is better than Robinson has ever been.

I think the main reason Cudicini et al didn't get called up was Sven. I think the FA could maybe have got away with it under an English manager, but I don't think they could under a foreign manager.

FWIW I rate Malbranque very highly.

i remember a piece about this in the papers a few years ago that Cudicini only needed one more year in England to be able to play for us.

I dont think theres any harm in this, afterall, the French have been exploiting their colonies for years, plus, with the amount of immigration traffic entering the UK how long before Polish born players start making there way through the ranks in the UK?

Wasn't there rumours of Almunia being lined up for a call up for the England squad?

Indeed there were, and he is reported to be very keen to play for England. He's just not really that good, is he? Other than Cudicini (and I would still pick Robocop James in front of him), that's the trouble with all of the names mentioned. They are no better than what we have. The problem lies with tactics and the players' lack of passion. Do you think foreign born players would change the latter problem? Of course not! There is enough talent amongst English born players to win major tournaments, and although one result does not convince me that we are home and dry, the Croatia game showed we are on the right track.
