At 58 I 've seen both Ron Poutney and Kevin Maher play for the Blues on countless occasions.
For me there's no question that King Kev was by far the better player and it's no suprise to me that the last 5 years of his time at Roots Hall co-incided with our best and most succesful teams since the early 90's.
I've no axe to grind on this one.I loved watching RP and even made a special trip back for his testimonial a few years back.But IMHO skill wins out over commitment every time.Maher had both.Ron mainly the latter.
 
Ron was a good old boy. I have a pic somewhere of him presenting me with player of year award for the Gr. Wakering Colts U11's in 1986.

I'll see your Ron Pountney presenting the award and raise you a Frankie Banks presenting one to me in around 1979 I think. (hmmm that doesn't quite work does it :D )
