Not been in there myself for a decade (change of taste), beer selection (not lager) not great in the past.

I have been there once and wasn't impressed. It felt like I was waiting for Danny Dyer to walk in with a film crew.

The Barge Gladys is the best pub in Benfleet but the bar isn't set particularly high.

Billericay Brewery Bar. You can drink step's away from where the beer is brewed. Plus last friday lots of Blue's On Tour people drinking in there.

Yeah Ferg is still running it, been the landlord 25 years now!
Yeah when I said the spa it was tongue in cheek, I like it though mainly because it’s been apart of my growing up. If you want a good selection of beers the White Hart is much better

Yeah it is small and pricey but it’s a very traditional pub no music nothing like that just old school

The C8ck Inn at Hawkwell is a fab little pub. Does great food at a decent price too

Agreed, we're sadly lacking any decent pubs in Benfleet.

The Hawk at Battlesbridge isn't bad for a selection of beers, and, of course, the Crouch Vale Brewery Tap Room at South Woodham Ferrers is well worth a visit.

25 years ago, I think that might answer your question! Do you mean The Crown in Hadleigh or The Half Crown in Benfleet? The Crown was demolished, finally, last year after having been derelict for decades - probably since then! The Half Crown has a bit of an unsavoury reputation amongst locals.

What’s up with the Hoy & Helmet?

Not been in there for a couple of years, what with lockdown, but it's part of the Greene King chain so food is a bit, well, you know. The beers aren't too bad but I've always found it a bit claustrophobic because of the low ceilings, and if you sit outside, you get eaten alive by gnats, well, I do!
