Good to see Bill there today - forgot how well he actually did for Chelsea (as they were known then before the ruble takeover).

Thought it a bit naff how the PA guy dragged Bill around all four stands holding his mike limply out, especially as 95% in the three home sides never appeared to have heard of him (dismissing a £100k purchase price as loose change in Ballack's pocket).

And the PA **** really showed himself up by arrogantly stating that after the match in '72 they thought Bill was our best player so they just went and bought him. PA tosser.

Still, just like with Lee Sawyer, Bill realises who are the real fans, the ones that gave him a cheer a hundred fold louder than the 35,000 others.

West Stand....Bill Garner......................Matthew Harding Stand....Bill Garner............East Stand....Big Bill Garner(Just incase you forgot) ....Southend Fans.....Bil........Massive Cheer........

Good bit in the programme about Bill too, saying we might nick something .. wise words Billy boy, wise words !!!

have to agree with you about our PA man (neil Barnett i think), the man is an embarressment especially before he reads the teams out & gets the indevidual (sp) stands to cheer, the guys an idiot.

unfortunatly unless our former players are very high profile or played for us in the last 10/15 years then the chances are they are not going to be known by any of our JCL / tourist type fans.
Nice for Bill that he got a good reception from your lot though.

I played football against Bill Garner over 20 years ago. He hardly moved out of the centre circle -- he just sprayed 20 and 30 yard inch perfect passes to his team mates. Outstanding.

Dave the kitman was let go by the club (he done the job for free and for the love of the club) then they PAID Bill Garner to be the kit man for a while!!!

I bow to your more intimate knowledge of the workings of our favourite club.:)

You being a "real" supporter of the club and all that.:)

Agree..... maybe we can get him down for the replay ?

Oneupmanship reigns if we could pull off this coup.

Na na na na, na na na na, hey, hey, hey, Bill Garner. The chant that boomed out of the north bank in my younger days.

Below is Bill about to get a proper cheer from us!
