Blues boss Brown: I don't think the team are playing for me

To be honest I have never agreed with the above.

His favourite score is 1-0. It shows a discipline and clean sheet mentality, which is why he likes it.

But in an ideal world he will want 2 or 3 goal wins. He absolutely does not want to sit back and defend. You should see and hear him on the touchline when we go 1-0 up and sit deep. He is actively trying to get them to do the opposite.

Then the players aren't listening to him because we seem to do it every time.

Listening to his interview yesterday he sounds like someone who would rather not be here. Something is not right, although as Glenn Pennyfather said, we don't know what is going on inside the camp. I was not at the game so it is hard to comment but as Glenn said, we just weren't in the game in the second half. Emotions are running high on Shrimperzone but we are 12th in the table, not in the bottom four! My view on Brown FWIW is that his downside is his poor man management skills, this goes back to his crazy antics at Hull and his constant berating of players at our club via the media. I am sure there are players who do not like playing for him. He seems a knowledgeable bloke regarding the game but his ego lets him down. At the end of the day we have to presume that Ron knows the real story of what is going on and he will act accordingly. Will Brown still be here this side of Christmas, who knows?

its almost as if there are 2 teams out there sometimes. seldom does a team go out to defend, but very often a team 1 goal behind will have a purple patch where they look more dangerous and create a few chances. this is usually because being behind, they have little to lose and are willing to take more risks, overload teams.

If you feel the team isnt playing for you anymore PB ,the decent thing to do would be to resign, you have been good for SUFC ,but now i feel your time is up.You will leave with a decent resume as you have progressed every season.Do it now PB.

Spot on 'fbm'.

It's a myth that we sit on a 1-0 lead.

By definition, the oppo will come back at us to try and get an equalizer.

PB's substitutions are very rarely defensive, as another example.

What choice did brown have.
How can you defend the performance?
I think as brown does he us calling out the players. On this occasion I think it will backfire unless the players pull there finger out.
Why shouldn't the players hold a interview and get asked the questions we want the answers too?
Questions I have.
Why Ferdinand ahead of White?
Who is being protected by not having Timlin in midfield?
Where are the goals going to come from?
For those brown out fans Who will do any better that is available/interested?

I hope that all your he people saying the players are letting us down put in 100% effort every day without exception at their workplace regardless of the circumstances

Pb will still be the manager until his contract expires. Ron will not go to the expense of sacking him when he can just write this season off. So season over in my mind, unless we get in a relegation battle ( which I wouldn’t rule out)

I also don't see Phil going anywhere soon (well not until late January at least, depending on results after the Rochdale game). December's fixtures are all a given to lose, but early January has some prospect, on paper.

At this current time, I don't think we will be in a relegation battle. With 28 points on the board after 21 games, & what with another 25 games to go (and a maximum of 75 points to play for). We should in theory achieve more than the 50+ points (which is the general rule of thumb to avoid relegation). In other words, a worse 2nd half of the season than the 1st half we've nearly had, should still see us clear of the drop zone.

Yes, but people aren't paying out money to travel to Bristol to watch me work.

Everyone is entitled to a off day now and again, whether it’s at work or at home. Players also have off days where nothing goes right, which as wth any workplace is acceptable. What is not acceptable is to deliberately go out of your way to skive away from your core responsibilities to the detriment of others. I wouldn’t do that at my place of work and I don’t expect to see our players take this attitude either.

Can't beat a tad of optimism!

The players have to show some respect to us and Phil in performing out of their skins in the next few games. Being a grumpy bu.g.r I admit to no affection for the self congratulatory, over the top celebrations when a goal is scored. I try to appreciate that apparently men spend more time grooming themselves than women these days, and so self centred grandiose daft gestures may be trendy. On a more serious related point though, I'd ask Phil to ensure for the next 6 goals we score ( if we manage that total this season) that the players nearest the ball solemnly line up and APPLAUD the supporters, until the point gets driven home, who you are here for .?!

Odd expression, that 'playing for the manager' or 'playing for the supporters'.

Surely, as a footballer, you want to play to win the game for yourselves.

That's what happens at park level. If so and so was slacking, he just got a b*ll*cking from his team mates!

I didn’t realise Saturday was that bad

My immediate reaction after Saturdays debacle was brown out ! But after reflecting on the PB situation I think it was a very honest interview after the game, yes it was PB`s signing that dished up a load of garbage at Bristol, but when the players put a blue shirt on I expect them to show passion and desire, the supporters deserve more. If we constantly under performed at work we would be sacked. My thought`s are with PB as im sure he must be pretty close to a break down, I expect the players to respond in the right way as they are supposed to be professionals, not spoilt brats. End of sermon !
