Hi all, having finally moved back to the area from the north east,I finally have the time to follow pre season for the first time in almost a decade. Was looking at travelling to Braintree for the game on Saturday but was wondering during if anyone knew what time tickets tend to go on sale on the day from Braintree's ground? Also if anyone can point me the way of a half decent pub for before and after drinks then that would be much appreciated.

Fowlers Farm on what locals call "cholesterol corner" opposite MacDonalds and KFC is a nice refined pub with outside seating. Too many dodgey pubs in central Braintree for my liking. Its where Cressing Road meets the A120. 10-15min straigyt walk to ground. And parkings free.

Ah great thanks, so hard to find a half decent place to drink these days. Any idea about the tickets? Presume I can rock up on the day and pick up a ticket upon entry?

Yep according to SUFC website its pay on the day. £10 adults £5 Concessions.
Nearest pub to ground is actually on Cressing Road. Called The Orange Tree. Gets good reviews on Tripadvisor but ive never braved going in there. Fowlers Farm is a Vintage Inn so as much a restaurant as pub. Orange Tree has pool tables etc.

Ok awesome mate, thanks for the help, its much appreciated!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The Orange Tree is fine, it will be mostly Southend and Braintree fans in there. Has a beer garden if the weather's nice. Braintree isn't a terrible place but some of the town centre pubs are indeed filled with the kind of people that even Colchester residents think are inbred.

If you like your ale, there is one stand-out choice (or always used to be) in town and that is the Wagon and Horses on South Street near Braintree station. It's probably a 15-minute walk to the ground.
