Memory still good then and Tangled up in Blue is a great Dylan song amongst many others:smile:

Yeah.Though I think Mick (or some other historian) might correct me and point out it was a Friday night away game (rather than the mid-week one that I remember).

You are correct Ozzie, that was the 1st time we had played them since the 60's. We lost 0-2 to them at home, won 2-0 at Walsall the following day (3 games in those days over the Easter weekend), and 2-0 down there on the Monday.
Was'nt the first time 'everyone' said they were going to the away game, and few turned up.
Biggest mistake we made, was parking our Motor outside the 'away end'!. At the final whistle they had loads milling around outside, not looking to shake our hands!.
Had to adopt 'safety first tactics', walked out with a Brighton fan decked out with scarfs and was talking to him. Said goodbye to him with the words 'see you next week' or similar, and got away with it.
The rest of the Leigh Comm had their cars parked elsewhere.
Cannot remember if it was the car i was in,or the one in front:But got pulled in by the police, coz either one of the cars had thrown a bottle at B&HA fans at a bus stop.Do you remember that? Did you also go with the Leigh Comm coach ,to Plymouth:Our first away game ,back in the 3rd..72-73?

That was'nt a Leigh Comm coach to Plymouth. Organised by the Southend boys. Leigh Comm organised 4 to Gillingham in 72, Leigh Comm Veterans then ran 2 to Bournemouth in 76, and 2 to Cambridge the same season.
We also filled a minibus to Exeter for the FA cup game in 76.
Was'nt in the 'Car convoy' to Brighton, as we left late!.

ok cheers, but was at all those games, was not the Cambridge 76 game, when the coach driver refused to take us back to Southend??

It was, and we had to wait till around 6 pm in the ground, until a replacement turned up!. That was when Dave Smith & Paul Clark gave interviews on the pitch to Anglia TV, and we were singing, which was heard on TV the next day!.

When ,i think Parker, scored our 3rd?? i ran onto the pitch to thank him..was on tv...you could get the video from Anglia tv(years ago).Would like to buy it,but now cannot find it.Want to prove to the "kids",i did have long hair once!!

It wasn't midweek; it wasn't even Friday night. It was a Saturday afternoon and I went on the Eastern National coach.

The" history" between our clubs started easter,i think 74. Big trouble ,it was even on news at ten.Think it was good !!!friday,we then played them i think on easter monday(away).Went with the Leigh comm lads in a car,i ended up at Brighton main station, waiting for our mob to turn up,but none came...dont remember the game or even if i went back with the Leigh lads or bunked the train home
One year later,on my own,got jumped by 4 B&H fans, minor kick-in,then,think it was Dec 75..a bigger fight and i ended up being locked up for 3 months,3 weeks....I feel the same as Smiffy...mind you.dont like Watford even more

I see Ginger Lee take on about 6 on his own in the early nineties, I take it you guys on here have heard of the guy?

I was standing next to him at the back of the west stand at the Luton home game and he looked at me and went absolutely mental when we scored. Didnt really know what to do so went mental with him!!

I'd heard that it was his son that got picked out from a distance then set upon after the game.
