Instead of or additional to the traditional bottle of champagne, how about appointing previous game MOM to vice captain of the day in the next game - to be given the honour of officiating in the centre circle, in recognition.

The Club Captain to retain other on the field responsibilities/duties.
 
Like the idea at a youth and below level in fact think its an excellent idea but not so sure it would have the desired effect in mens football.
 
I think such an idea is unworkable in the professional game, especially with new Referee directives introduced in the 'Respect' campaign.

After penning I had same thoughts, but in seeking to build upon MOM awards into the next game, carrying forward some honour seems a possible. Just a thought.
