Change of club's name?

It has been suggested that a fitting tribute to the murdered MP Sir David Amess would be to grant his wish that Southend be granted City status. Were that to happen, what are the odds on a change of name to Southend City? Swansea adopted the new status in their club name. Why not Blues? Perhaps a chance to see an upturn in our fortunes.

No. Certainly not.

Although I suppose if the worst happens it could be the name of the Phoenix club.

No way, we are Southend United, even if for many we years we have been un united. Hopefully we can soon all be reunited in stopping the rot in our great club.

Did David Amess even like the club? I know he supported West Ham but if I remember correctly he didnā€™t give any toss about us and certainly not other things like the airport etc too. Horrible what happened to him but he had no/very little links to us I donā€™t see why people are even suggesting we name our stadium after him.
RIP to him and condolences to his family though. No family should have that happen to them and people should be able to go to work knowing they are safe.
