I forgot about Capleton. Was with him in surgery many years back when he bust his leg in a match. A huge bloody leg to lift too it was!

See that both Prudhoe and Emberson fair well. Both truly shocking which the stats prove.
Agree that both Prudhoe and Emberson were poor, however the stats as they are shown don’t prove that at all. Unless you can see the number of games they had played (which you can’t from the data) then you can’t measure their clean sheet ratio.

Didn't realise anyone had come anywhere close to Merve the Swerve's 27, until I read that Bentley managed 20 (twice).

Good to see that Neil Freeman had the highest % of clean sheets, I really liked him as our keeper.
I count myself so very lucky to have been there during Freeman and Cawston's time - both excellent keepers. Both big favourites of mine.

@Napster - this is really helpful, doing some stats on those in SUEPA etc.

James Montgomery, Patrik Gunnarsson, Andy Petterson, Tony Henrikson and Callum Taylor are all ex first team keepers in SUEPA who are not in your list albeit that they each only payed a handful of times and in two instances only as subs ... tho a couple might top your charts with a 100% clean sheet record!

Don't suppose you have anything on keepers who only came on in cup comps for us? I'm just trying to see if there are any keepers we've had who have not yet had the SUEPA knock on the door.

Worth remembering that in the days of 2 points for a win many teams set up for a 0-0 away from home in the late 70's and 80's.

Plus clean sheets are earned by good defending as well as goalkeeping.......Stats can never take into account all factors in Football. I guess we all have our favourite players from our own experiences, the age you were when watching and a healthy dose of rose tinted glasses.

Possibly the most surprising thing about these is that Southall has a 1 next to his name.

He lumbered through 9 games with us. Seven defeats, a 1-1 draw at Brentford and even his solitary clean sheet at home to Millwall was only enough for 1 point.

Was at a reserve game and we had Prudhoe in goal.

Ground was quiet until Prudhoe grunted and yelled in his very Northern accent and a posh-voiced fan yelled out "They have been giving you meat again Prudhoe" !!

Funny as ****.

I miss those reserve games.
