Hmmm jokes aside I get what the club are saying with the optics of it BUT if we are offering to help as fans I think it’s more than just cleaning up it’s giving fans a chance to feel apart of the club and help! This is something we have already discussed with the Club and while there is a view that the Consortium don't want to be seen to be relying on fans to do stuff which really should be under their remit, they recognise the bonding process and invincible community spirit that arose out of the original "Clean Up Day".
They have already agreed that we can get volunteers in to give the Shrimpers Bar a much needed going over, but are hoping that this will coincide with a day for others to come along, particularly tradespeople with specific (and much needed) skills.
It's certainly on the agenda for close season. Watch this space, as they say!
The spirit of the fans helping like that is pure marketing gold for the club. Allows SUFC to in my opinion market like a club with a fanbase like no other.Maybe we need some pressure washers for seats and stands, toilets need fixing, the seats between north and west on that corner need sorting maybe this should be done over more than just 1 day or 1 weekend spread it! Our club has shown that the fans want to be involved! Let people paint etc get the place looking better than last season
I’m not sure. It feels like kids making trainers. The spirit of the fans helping like that is pure marketing gold for the club. Allows SUFC to in my opinion market like a club with a fanbase like no other.
No one is forcing anyone to go.I’m not sure. It feels like kids making trainers.
And that's exactly what we've said. We said it last year, when they really DIDN'T want to do it again and we've repeated it this year. When I can get the last lot of liaison minutes approved, then you will see it's in there.I get they dont want to be seen as skint so getting the fans in for free labour.
But you can spin this differently in a positive way so it becomes an annual tradition and a bonding experience for the club and fans.
I think the Trust supplied that, though I may be wrong? The club did supply a Fish & Chip lunch for the volunteers but we took our own lunch
Gong to extremes, we all accept that we have charities. And that's exactly what we've said. We said it last year, when they really DIDN'T want to do it again and we've repeated it this year. When I can get the last lot of liaison minutes approved, then you will see it's in there.
Gotta have the place at least a bit clean to show prospective new signingsThere was a lot of sweeping/cleaning going on in the east stand today.
More likely to be to do with safety certification!Gotta have the place at least a bit clean to show prospective new signings![]()
Seems an odd attitude to resist. Most fans don’t have a spare million to help save the club but this is doing their bit. If the club invest a little in some supplies and equipment then allow people who see this as their way of paying in to do so.
I think we have to be careful here that there's not a over reaction to where the Club are coming from. This is something we have already discussed with the Club and while there is a view that the Consortium don't want to be seen to be relying on fans to do stuff which really should be under their remit, they recognise the bonding process and invincible community spirit that arose out of the original "Clean Up Day".
