Breaking News Club Sold! (stc)

Ha ha. If we want to expand and have a multi club model with something out here in Oz then I’d consider it 😉
I’d join you out there, if I could persuade the Mrs and the kids, oh wait already tried that and didn’t end well, I was going on my own if I went through with the plan to up and move.

And you're not prepared to take one for the team? What kind of lightweight fan are you?

You’d think if the deal going through to completion and FF development are linked that it will concentrate RM’s mind on getting this done with no further shenanigans.

I remember the recent Scunthorpe owners statement saying that on the day of completion of his purchase the old owner emptied the clubs bank account to pay 'fees'.

Hopefully current CFO / TL can look to prevent any potential shenanigans going on

If the club had money in it’s bank accounts, we wouldn’t have waited 12 months to pay HMRC…

And we wouldn’t have gone to court over an electric bill…

In Scunthorpes case I think it was 40k - so not enough to settle any of our bills - but I think its the principle of trying to make sure that Ron doesn't leave any surprises - LondonBlue gave another example of when Jobson left and 'stitched' Ron/the club up with some bills. Watch out for Ron getting a new Bentley!

On the way to work I listened to BBC Essex & would say I'm that bit closer to being a believer having heard Anna Firth & Matt Slater.

Whilst they caveated their comments with caution they both seem to know who is in the consortium but obviously can't divulge at this stage. No big names but just solid people who are local or with local connections. Anna said there would be people who supporters would think are a good fit & she feels would be able to push the club in the right direction.

All in all very heartening stuff & a good listen. Matt Slater, as has been said before, is a SUFC fan journo who specialises in covering clubs in trouble & his interview I found quite encouraging.

Hearing between the lines I really do believe the City Council have had an impact as my suspicion is that they have played hardball with Ronald Rat over what planning problems he would have at FF if the club went under. Just my impression nothing more.

Pluses and minuses mate. Watching the game last night (this morning for me) I definitely wished I was back home.

Never in my life have i wanted a month to pass so quickly .But i relly hope october flys by .Then the new the new owners can have the keys to home of essex football Rootshall .I thank you from the bottom of my heart Justin rees and his merry men who ever they are for saving our club from Death .

Great news obvs. But, I can see the rat backing out of the deal, and only using the agreement to get some cash out of JR to pay off HMRC.

Sorry Aussie chap, changed my mind, but I’m skint, so don’t expect your money back.

Until the agreement is signed and sealed, please let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
It's an incredible deal for Ron Martin. He's gone, you can relax.

Only way this doesn't happen is if something ghastly comes up in the Consortium's final DD.

Which is made very very unlikely as we are told the had access to the DD done by Kimura.

Haven't got time to scroll back and see whether anyone else had picked up on, what I saw, as a significant nuance in the statement made yesterday. It refered to the new people as, not the owners but the custodians of the club. This particularly stood out for me as heart warming and hopeful sign.

I noticed that as well, but thought it was unusual to use the term "custodian" because it means different things to different people, and not necessarily one that people would associate with ownership of something eg. a caretaker could be a custodian of a building, but not the owner. Nevertheless it is a breath of fresh air to have someone speak of the club in such a term.

The other thing I noted was the change in focus in Justin's words. The comments made by Justin in yesterday's statement were all surrounding the playing side eg. hit the ground running and mentioning TL, JS and KM - no mention of the stadium. Compare that to Justin's statement 20th Sept., which was heavily stadium orientated with no real direct mention of the playing side.

Onwards and upwards.

It's a great deal for Ron, he gets all his housing from RH & FF at FF and doesn't have to build a stadium. The £20m he gives SUFC from FF is sharing the savings he gets from the revised plan. The club wins big time. We get £20m to turn RH into a modern sustainable facility. Not borrowing or debt.

So anyone who doesn't want to see FF happening or Ron getting his ££ forgets that the club is getting ££ as well. We are joint beneficiaries of a successful outcome at FF. So Ron gets screwed we get screwed as well.

Time to move on. I'm very positive about what I hear about our new custodians, and very much look forward to hearing who the other consortium members are, and the vision for the future. I guess a press conference on or around 1st Nov.
