Having had my laptop hard drive die spectacularly last week, I have been patting myself on the back for having it safely backed up to an external Hdd - but of course, having used the Toshiba Recovery discs to restore the laptop to its original software status, the Windows-created back up files only restore the basics (emails, documents, photos) and I have spent a happy day hunting down my favourite freeware programmes and reinstalling them.
Question: Is there a decent back-up programme I can download which will not just backup my documents, but also restore my latest settings and programme installations? I know that taking a Drive Image will do the job, but is there a half-way house?
