Been said before, but they are an example to all lower league clubs on how to operate.
The main thing they always do is stick to their principles - if they're having a bad season they don't panic, and take it on the chin. Everyone else sacks the manager and starts rebuilding the team.

Their youth system took time, and can you honestly expect patience with our fans and chairman?

Since Dario Gradi took over Crewe in June 1983, it took them 6 seasons to gain promotion to the 3rd tier. It took them another 8 seasons to gain promotion to the 2nd tier, although they did have to gain promotion back to the 3rd tier before then.

I know one of the former CEOs, Tara I think, mentioned that they were aiming for consecutive promotions. Going back to my first question, would you accept being in this league for 8 seasons and another 2 after being relegated from league one so that we have a youth system as good as Crewe's?

Great shout, not to mention the huge financial costs in running a youth system of Academy status.

In a perfect world, we would have a team of local (Blues supporting) players who progressed through our youth system, along with Barry Corr and a couple of Brazilians of course :winking:

Crewe are a great example of how a lower League club should be run. They are a far smaller club than us but are run a million times better than us or most of the Football League clubs for that matter but their achievements have been remarkable over the years.
