Culture secretary explains why football fans cannot attend matches

There's no comparison between the audience in a theatre and the crowd at a football stadium, so its hardly inconsistent.

You're right, the indoor scenario is far worse...........

That statement is the sort of response that makes people confused, he mentions the issue with travelling to and from the venue which is the same transport that they are asking people to use to go to work, and the indoor spread of the virus is far greater a risk than outdoors, or so we are told.

If we're waiting for a vaccine then football will be long dead before that happens to any great effect

Pathetic mumbo jumbo from UKGov, nonsensical fairy tale story. What is the likelihood that any of our current leaders attend league football as a normal turnstile fan or have any staff or advisers that do?
I suspect they have more first hand knowledge of polo games.

Got an email earlier (as I imagine did a great many others) telling me that the bring backs fans petition will be debated in Parliament on 11 November (IIRC).

Top English football club owners probably don't want fans in. It serves two purposes:

a) It starves out relatively smaller clubs.
b) If fans are allowed in under a restrictive system a throttling of attendances could result in, relatively, higher attendances down the leagues.
