I know the season’s not over with and we don’t know what league we are going to be in but out of our current squad who is the dead wood that needs to go no matter what league we are in?

Interesting choices.
There are at least five of your 'keeps' who won't play in the NL when they can get a League Two club.
Then ask yourself, how many successful NL sides have depended on what used to be called 'apprentices'?

Oh I know there are players who wouldn’t stay, but if we could keep them I think we should do everything in our power to keep them.

All about opinions and not knocking yours , but just wondered why White is a ‘release’ and McCormack a ‘keep’ ?
Why I highlighted those two is that for me JW has been one of the main reasons our defence has been so solid and Macca has no more than 20 minutes in him when he is fit.
Easier to play CB than CM when age creeps up and next season Macca will be another year older.

Way John White has been playing he deserves and extra year easily whichever league we are in. I also reckon in RHF is available on a free we should nab him as at this level he is good. If Ranger keeps his nose clean during injury he should be given a short term to Xmas to see how he goes. Not that he has had much to do but Montgomery looks very sound and could be worth signing

Cannot even begin to think about next season.

Id say If we go down the rats will leave the sinking ship asap and i wouldnt blame them.

If we stay up i imagine they will all stay bar clifford who must be on the radar of a lot of clubs and taylor and olayinka who would move on. Cant see their agents recommending a permanent move to southend.

As im sure we all are hoping, we survive and mm brings in strikers next year.as we have a pretty solid foundation.

But i will say i wouldnt be devestated to lose any of them really which is a strange feeling and speaks volumes about the last 4 years.

I’m just not a fan of White and I’m a fan of McCormack nothing more than that really.

Frankly cant see many staying it will need a total re build as only the kids will be at the club. My opinion it will take at least 5 years to get back into the league to many ex league clubs already stuck in the national and below as examples of the graveyard they are in.This question will need to asked when we definitely know what league we will be in next season as can see many players moving on anyway

When we were down there every game was like a cup final because many of the teams had never been in the league and were desperate to beat us. These days half the league are ex EFL clubs and many of the others have big money backers so they attract decent players on good money. I would think it is more difficult to get promoted out of the National league than it is to go from league two to league one, especially as only the top two get promoted!

Colchester and proud is totally correct..I also think the difference in quality from league 2 to national is a fag papers width ....and is to me the reality of a league 3 to be honest ..but am i trying to soften what feels like impending doom of relegation ..hope I am wrong

Don’t know about your fandom.
McCormack may be older but ,playing at the back,he’d still be quicker than White, win the same amount of headers and read the game better.

Needs to be asked when we know where we will be playing ,but as someone said it will be harder to get promoted from the NL than it is from l2 to l1.

In my humble opinion

Please no - we're going to struggle to score next season as well???

Don't get at the moment why people are keeping Montgomery - he's barely had a save to make. No idea if he is a good keeper or not.

Louis Walsh? Who he, lol? I'd love to know what we're keeping first?
Of the 'keeps' I would reckon maybe one, two at most might consider it.
The rest have shown they can play at Lge2 level, or even above on a good day.
Chances of Clifford, Elvis and Dieng agreeing terms?
To borrow from Elvis Costello: less than zero.
