Article on BBC about Exeter fans funding a players wages for fourth season in a row
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19327436
Our own much-maligned (on here at least) Shrimperstrust funds youth team wages I believe but what struck me was the Exeter managers comments about fans:
"The key qualities you want from supporters are loyalty, an understanding of the position the club is in, a genuine will to win and a ready eagerness to provide whatever support they can to help their team"
You wouldn't expect him to say anything else, but could that be said about Southend fans even if we had a clean start with a new owner?
I find that most visits to the Zone leave me feeling worse about the club I support and the comments in the Echo articles on SUFC by fans are nearly always negative.
It leaves me wondering is there an underlying negative culture amongst us as Southend fans that would exist even without Ron Martin?
