Doncasters View on Balloons? 100% ok on the Flags

Thought it would be best to get the official view of Doncaster Rovers regards the clubs policy on Balloons and Flags...... so dropped them an e-mail.

This is the reply i had back this morning

Hi David,

Balloons have caused some problems for players in some matches recently in the Football League. It would be preferable not to bring such into the stadium.

Flags are welcome (the more the merrier) – stewards will look out for any which are on dangerous implements eg. A heavy stick/pole which could be used as a weapon. However, a normal hand-held flag is fine.

Best wishes

Charles

"Not preferable", I would say that is definitely not a no to balloons at all. So the more the merrier.

But i would be careful with the flags, "heavy poll" hmmm, i would imagine that the flags given out last Friday would be more than acceptable reading his comments.

Hope this helps.

*awaits the obvious double-entendre*

thanks for contacting them though Dave and getting some clarity on the situation.

I hear you have been on the telephone to Dave ...

The Flags from Friday with sticks are a 100% yes to take..:)..confirmed by myself with the Officials at Donny.

The chap has just called me as well.....

He confirmed that the 5000 Southend flags from Last Fridays game are more than ok to be brought in to the ground and was really impressed with our club for supplying them, again he said balloons are not preferable but did say they are not banned.. so Green light it is on Balloons as well.

He was a really nice guy and wished us all the luck, i tried to draw him on the "Donny taking back tickets" saga but he just chuckled and said.."did you see the Leeds game last night"

How did you know that mate???

A mass of balloons still worries me though.
We don't want a Man City situation as somebody mentioned on the other thread.

However, I still remember the spine-tingling scene of 5,000+ blue/yellow/white balloons at Hillsborough in the cup in 1993.

Excellent news on the flags. Have the club got any left to hand out? As we know people will forget or have lost/broken them already.

Come on people take your flags as I pointed out earlier quite a few people had 2 or 3 flags & some went unused so make sure you take them on Friday.

After the game I saw so many people with the flags still in the protective wrapping it came in and I swear one guy had about four!

I saw that to Al,it bugs me that big time ...when they just take them home without using them...:madman:

I know the lads that were with me did not get flags & the people with unused flags were grown adults what the hell are they going to do with them.

Maybe they will give them to younger kids that did not attend the game.... but that was not the point of giving them out was it.

Are there any left?

Especially, when us poor unfortunate exiles, despite knowing connected people, couldn't even get one saved for them - sob, sob, sniff :'(

Exactly Rich........You would think that after me loaning my wife out to a certain individual that i would have at least got a flag out of it

:( :( :(
