I was reading the SUFC Academy twitters page and it mentioned the name Freddy Eastwood playing in the under 16's, is that his son?!

Yeahs that's his son. Seen him in the directors box with his dad a couple of times. Someone who sits near me asked him what position he played and his response was along the lines of "i score all the goals don't i"

If he played for Southend, I imagine it'd be our first time having father and son (not at once) in the team.

Bob Jack played for us 1906 to 1910 as player manager.
His son the more famous David Jack became our manager 1934 to 1940 and played 1 FA cup game for us.
Not sure if there are any other Father/Son combos?

Huge potential? I smell EPPP on the horizon. I wonder what stance Freddy Snr would take if a big club came in for Freddy Jnr.

Obviously he went to West Ham and then very nearly quit football. I just wonder if he'll say this is the right place for you.

There was also Dave and Danny Webb.
Yeah there are a few Father/Son manager & player combos.
RobM was asking if any Father and Sons have ever played (in different teams obviously) for us. The only ones I can think of are the 'Jacks' and even then Bob was during our non-league time. So I don't think we have had a Father/Son play league football during our history.
I wonder how common it is in football in general that a Father and Son have played for the same club.

Dominic Iorfa + his son of the same name who we sold to Wolves. I remember his dad playing for us + was quite possibly the quickest player i have ever seen. Unfortunately the incredibly speed usually ended up with him being one on one with the keeper before he realised his legs were going far quicker than his brain and more often than not he then fell over. But great athlete + superb entertainment!!!!
