It looks like Sodje is returning to Moss Rose this week. He first joined the Silkmen in 1997 and has the distinction of scoring Macclesfield's first ever football league goal.

Sodje has been at Bury for four and half years, making almost 200 appearances for the Shakers.

Sodje must be one of or indeed the oldest outfield player in top 5 divisions

He is still top quality + a big character... as we saw at Roots Hall just a few weeks ago ..... I remember Wayne Gray saying he was the hardest opponent ever + almost impossible to play against !!! Good luck efe

I have a soft spot for Macc due to a family connection, great little club who punched way above their weight for years in the league. Hope he does well for them & helps them at least get into the BS play-offs.

A true gent, wrote to him last year as a friend wanted a SUFC bandana and they are no made for us. One arrived by return of post complete with grass stains, all they very best young man x

Officially 40 now. Surprised to see he only played 37 times for us.

He had that broken leg towards the end of the L1 promotion season and then another break, albeit a finger, at the start of the Championship season which also kept him out for awhile. Came back in time to upset Master Rooney bigtime though! Loved his celebration when he scored v QPR later that season and just a shame it ended the way it did.

Almost **** myself in fear when I saw this pic. What a bad-***. Great to see him still going

Second that, immense player for us, wish him nothing but the best.

When he was with us, he had owned a decent house in that area for several years. Maybe as his career is winding down, he wants to cut back on travelling, and play for a club 'on his doorstep'

much love for the guy, quality beard and bandanna combo, always smiling and a quality player to boot. i dont think he'll ever retire, he loves the game too much

Great career for a player who was not blessed with natural skill.

It just goes to prove what desire, determination and commitment does for someone. It's a shame that we see so many other players with more natural talent fall away due to their attitudes.

Sodje is a cracking man marker and is awesome in a battle with a forward, bit of a dirty git but you love him on your side. Whatever his flaws, the guy played against England and Argentina at the World Cup, now that aint bad.
