England v Bangladesh

Bangladesh win the toss and put England in. Eoin Morgan comes in for his debut and Jimmy Anderson returns and a first test match in England for Stephen Finn. Under English conditions this should be a stroll for England ahead of the 4 test series against Pakistan in August.

Vaughan on 5-Live was saying it's a nailed on certainty we'll win this, but it's the manner of how we do will be the signs for the upcoming Ashes in Oz. We need to utterly destroy Bangladesh (in cricketing terms!) to make the Aussies sit up and take note.

Now 44/1 off 12. Not really destructive, but 4 an over is reasonable in early May conditions... the ball will be doing a fair amount off the seam, I imagine.

oh and cooky's delivery was going over the top of the stumps. Just what you need when you are out of knick.

Top effort from Trott - even if it's only Bangla, he came in after only a few minutes of the start of play and batted very solidly (chancelessly?) throughout the whole day for his 175*. As Goochie would say, hope Trott "makes it a Daddy" tomorrow.

Another top effort from Bell too...

if trott surpasses goochie's 333 i will be gutted for goochie. still gooch would have the highest test score for an English batsman ;)

Trott gets his 200. England 421-6 after a good spell for the Bangladeshi's this morning

Easy to say 'it's only' but it can't be that easy as only one other player made a half ton. A quality knock given that the three around him only managed 42 between them.

Confident start from Bangla, Bresnan getting hit for a couple of fours in an over.

That's a fair point, but to counter the argument, Jason Gillespie scored 200 odd not out as after coming in as a night watchman.

True, but Trott has a ton against the Aussies to counter any 'weak opponents' arguments.

Unlike a certain IR Bell who has 14 single figure scores against the Aussies (including 4 ducks) out of 25 innings. There's a random cricket fact for you.
