Assuming we've paid the electricity bill, a Southend XI will be taking on Brentwood Town (from 3 steps below us in the non-league pyramid) at Roots Hall tonight.

Referee will be Aaron Farmer, an auditor from Colchester. Aaron is a Level 2B referee which means he referees up to and including National League South.

Assistants will be Matthew Pointer from Hadleigh and James Perry from Southend, the latter being the deserved current holder of the prestigious Southend & Basildon Sunday League Referee of the Year Award.

I think these Essex cup matches great for bringing the players returning from injury and the bench warmers up to match fitness, Hopefully but very doubtful we will have another GK on our books by then too, or Colin will be back ,one of the two.
